Part of the reason his numbers are so good is because he just launches shots from almost anywhere at almost any time. I am not saying it's a good or bad thing, but it certainly helps the SAT %'s - YuenglingJagr
Partly true. But his shot suppression numbers were good too so it's not like he was just cheaply racking up dat Cersei For to counterweigh a poopty Cersei Against. Him shooting at league high numbers can't be anything but good. It isn't easy to get shots in today's game. Finding lanes is a skill like any other. |

no the flyers just need someone that qualifies...as you said...Manning - YuenglingJagr
Idk about you, I'd much rather Vegas take AMac. Manning makes pennies compared to AMac. |

AMac ain't getting taken if Raffl, Cousins or Laughton is there. |

But Manning also needs to qualify still too - dragonoffrost
Everyone pro for > 2 years and unprotected is qualified -- AHL or NHL . You just need 1 qualified to hit 40/70. Manning could play 14 games and they could take AMac theoretically if he played 0.
And AMac isn't being taken unless we pay them. It's a pipe dream probably. |

Yes...this is clear. But he needs only 14 games whereas AMac needs 40. The point is that there's no individual requirement from a player playing a certain amount of games (beyond +2 years pro) that allows or prevents them from being drafted by Vegas...the requirement is for the FLYERS to expose a player that meets the 40/70 requirement. This is done by the league to ensure there are a certain number of "NHL" players available in the expansion draft. |

Hedman is awfully close. He isn't as mean as Pronger by a long shot as Pronger was somewhat of a sadist. But the skills and physicality (to a point) are there. - MBFlyerfan

Or Weise. They would all be solid, unexpensive additions to an expansion team. |

I agree that he's actually good at it and that it is actually good for the team...I just didn't want to take sides during that post |

My issue was if we keep Provorov and Morin around which is how I see AMac going to Lehigh (can't say LV cause of Vegas now).
D Pairs would be Some combo of MDZ, Gudas, Ghost, Provorov, Morin and whichever of Streit or Schultz isn't traded. Notice Manning and AMac aren't there so neither of them is racking up games towards the requirement.
Of course that requires a crazy training camp. Since we all know any prospect has to blow Hak and Hexy out of the water with their play to make this roster out of camp this season. |

I see Streit and Schultz as the trade options. I think they want MDZ around for a few more years while the kids come through the system. - dragonoffrost
I think it's premature to think that. After this season, this very well could be our blue-line...
Ghost-Provorov
Sanheim-Gudas
Morin/Hagg-
I don't think it's imperative we sign MDZ. He'll get a bigger deal as a free agent and he knows it. Even if it's only Ghost, Provorov, and Gudas, those three are still a great start to a defense unit. |

Next season 2017-2018 is too early for that D set. I see that setup later down the line like 2 or 3 years. Which is why I sign MDZ for 2 seasons and if someone forces Hextall's hand he can trade him. |

I dont think there is much of a chance at all that 2 rookies start the year on defense while we already have 7 NHL defensemen. The team also knows the requirements and its a long season...so I don't think there is much to worry about. Even as a 7th defenseman, Manning could get close to 14 games |

any other college free agents to be after the 8/15 deadline that are worth looking into to? |

Oh I see AMac and Manning making the requirements and both being exposed. After they resign MDZ during the season. I'm just pointing out there is ways that this could (but shouldn't) get complex.
As I also have said we won't be losing a defenseman in the expansion this round. The next expansion is a totally different story and don't be shocked it comes in the next 3 years. |

MDZ is gonna likely look for term and "Fred Smoot Party Yacht" money. |

IMO there is no way MDZ would only sign a 2 year deal.

Not to mention AMac's deal is superrrr poopty. We can only tie but so much money up long term into any D not named Ghost or Provorov moving forward.
I'm praying that the Vegas team needs to take a deal like his to keep them over the cap floor. |

Then sign longer term and trade when the kids are truly ready.
A deal like Brayden Schenn got isn't backbreaking for MDZ on the D Line. |

Is it fair to suggest that the young defender is still trending upward in his development? Seeing how this was only his second full season (he played in parts of 4 seasons) in the NHL I think there may be some kinks he can work out through playing. - jak521
I agree, there is always room for improvement. His skill level is only going to take him so far.
