I hear ya, but politely disagree. I'd be pissed if TO gave up a pick (regardless of how many we had) to get exclusive rights only to see him go to another team.

I ask you this.....if Vesey signs elsewhere, do Sabre fans give it to him first time he's in your barn ??

He'll sign with Boston and I don't think most Sabre fans will care. One player isn't gonna make or break our season or the team's future. It would be nice to have him but there will be other options that will come along.

Nothing. He is within his rights . Graduated with a great Ivy League education . The kid has earned the right to live his life . If he chooses not to be a Sabre , Life will go on . Sabre fans are a little more rational than the fans at the other end of the QEW. A late third pick would be NHL ready in 4 to 5 years and would play a bottom six role . No big loss . Our GM gave it a shot, hats off to him.

I took a quick look from 2005 to 2014 and out of 8 3rd rd picks Toronto had 0 NHL games played.

Buffalo had 12 3rd picks in that same period and 428 games played.

Furthermore, I believe Vesey's father told him the same thing about TO as he did about Boston...the fans and media are stupid over the top...don't go there.

As was recently documented (and beaten to death here) the odds of someone in that spot being a quality NHLer are less than 10%. This was a better lottery ticket. Good move by Murray either way.

If you want to know why Toronto has been a franking embarrassment for a decade, just look at our entire draft selection "bounty" from that period. Basically an entire decade of flaming poop, unless it was a pick in the top eight ( my dog could pick good players there) or they simply got lucky with a later round pick.

Pay particular attention to how rarely we actually pick in the first or second round.

How are leaf fans "stupid over the top"? Of course there are dumb fans following the leafs but that can be said about every fanbase in every sport. The problem in toronto everybody refers to is not the fans. Its the media but can you really blame them? Sorry Wedgie. We understand what you Leaf fans have been through. It has given us some entertaining topics after December comes around. By then all the crap we endured preseason and by the 2nd week, everything Leaf fans claimed.... All we hear is a flushing noise .
