Queenie.. everything about NJ is like needles to my brain. I have to talk to a couple female purchasing agents from there and would rather throw myself into a wood chipper . - cabin
It's not for everyone but a lot of wealthy people do live here and there are some great parts. Newark is fugly but the arena area is pretty good. Racial diversification and Hockey!
You don't need to like it and I know it's not a top hockey destination despite the team having a lot of success on the ice. We snuck into the finals 4 years ago with a pretty exciting Kovy and Parise led team which score plenty. NJ isn't what most people picture it as. |

It's called the shore. As in nice sandy beeches to the Ocean. Sandy hook is a smaller version of Cape Cod. Atlantic city for gambling. Salt Water Taffy mother(frank)er!
The Jets and Giants are nearby and a couple of baseball teams if you like that stuff.
All nearby. Plus a horse track and home to the Sapranos! - Queenie_5_hole
Buffalo has some not horrendous beaches, sure, it's just a lake, but you can't see the other side, so you can use your imagination. We don't have to worry about hypodermics on the shore. Is China under martial law?
We have a casino about 5 minutes from the arena, one about 30ish minutes and another a little farther out still.
The Bills. I know, I know.
A horse track too. Not exactly Belmont, but it's pretty nice.
And, bonus, we're not in New Jersey, home of the toll booth. |

I'll admit That I haven't watched a Devils game in awhile, but holy crap enough with the trap and left wing lock style of boring hockey. Hopefully the team has moved away from that, I'd rather watch paint dry under water. - IonSabres
We haven't run the trap in years. The Rangers did under torts. Detroit under Bowman did the left wing lock which is practically the same thing.
We've moved away from that but are still a low event team. As we are adding quality forwards and a new coach we are trying to improve to what Coach Hynes calls fast, attacking and supportive hockey. We'll see, but we are pretty labeled as boring.
Ironically the trapping cup team of 2000 scored the most goals in the league that year! Wtf? But true. |

some recent chatter:
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington 35m
I'm hearing this as well. #Sabres far more alive than I felt they were when week began.
ProHockeyRumors sums up all the chatter from "alleged" sources.
Those with an inside source within the Vesey meetings and mullings have not been shy about reporting their thoughts. Sportsnet’s Howard Berger says not to be surprised if Vesey signs with the Maple Leafs, but also warns that Buffalo is very much still in the mix. Mike Grinnel of ESPN New Hampshire confirms the theory of colleague Jimmy Murphy that the New Jersey Devils are leading the chase. DJ Bean of Boston’s WEEI hears that the Bruins excelled in their meeting with Vesey and are still considered major contenders, counter to cross-town rival Joe Haggerty of CSN New England who said that Boston is all but out. Many have become skeptical of the Penguins ability to sign Vesey, having just re-signed Matt Cullen and reportedly having reached an agreement with another college free agent, Notre Dame’s Thomas DiPauli. All is quiet on the NYC front as well, with both the Islanders and Rangers considered strong contenders, but little chatter to support either’s position. Perhaps the most accurate “insider information” out there is the Chicago Tribune’s Chris Kruc’s take on Vesey and the Blackhawks, that they are just waiting for a decision from the Harvard star and that no known pecking order is in place. - turbo044

Tweet from James Stewart saying that Eichel and Vesey aren't "boys". Maybe not as close buddies as we think. Mentioned not to believe any of the Hayes rumours floating around (I'm assuming the condo rumor) and that he really likes the Devils cause he wants to be "the guy" and his fathers relationship with Tom Fitzgerald. |

It could be summed up this way: there is a chance all 8 could sign him, but it's almost certain 7 will not.

This is correct, they are friends but not best of friends, mostly due to the age difference (4 years), BUT they have played Foxboro together for three years, work out together and played on the US team together. There's a comfort level there. who'd he be most comfortable hanging out with; Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby or Jack Eichel?? |
