Lehner looked average to me, nothing more nothing less
my bigger fear is we don't have a goalie to challenge him next year unless Ullmark forces Murray to make him stay with the big club by playing outstanding in training camp - homiedclown
I won't say he looked like the next Hasek but he played pretty well when I saw him. He had a few games and goals that made him look terrible but also had a few that he was on his game. He needs to focus more on the puck and not the intimidation (although it's good tv when he does it)
I'm really rooting for him because his success equals our success.
I still would have gone for Enroth as the backup. Looks like the pad changes might not be ready for next season and Enroth played competently in both Buffalo and LA.
So Lehner isn't injury prone, and Colin White is Cody Hodgson. Great trade then. It's settled - sbroads24
Lehner's had injuries, no one is Hodgson. It's not as bad as us throwing away a 1st, though. It's somewhere in the middle. Where we got a good, not great, goalie and they got a prospect in the 1st round.
Hodgson has developed into a fine two-way player. Hodgson is an extremely smart player who uses all of his skills in both ends of the ice. Excellent skater, very strong on the puck, can quarterback the powerplay. Hodson has very good hands and excellent on ice-vision.
Time will tell. I'd rather have White in the system and Neuvirth/Enroth as our goalie tandem.
Neuvirth would have signed here IF he were assured the starting job which he had earned by almost messing up the tank. And Enroth could have been added this offseason to be the backup.

I still think we're out based on info from here earlier...

Lehner should be 100% . And in shape . He wasn't last year. I'm hoping for the best. It's all we can do .

Do we have a source on this?
I'd be good with a Neuvirth/Enroth tandem as well. I just don't think it's far and away better than Lehner/Nilson.
Jesus, I mean, you guys do nothing but complain about how you can't stand it in this place here and you don't have the guts just to walk out? What do you think you are, for Chrissake, crazy or somethin'? Well you're not! You're not! You're no crazier than the average a$$hole out walkin' around on the streets and that's it.
GAA is, to me, a team stat that gets put onto goaltenders. I like Sv% because it at least takes into account how many shots he's facing.
With goalies who played at least 20 games he's 4th in Sv% (Only reason I filtered that is to get rid of the guys who played 1 game and got a shutout and so on. Out of at least 10 games he was 6th, Price was first at .934). That doesn't make him better than Holtby (.922) since obviously there's a difference in the sample size but it says he wasn't bad when he played. It's the not playing that's the problem.
I'll 100% agree he needs to be better at shootouts.

There is room to grow, for sure. - Zschalberg
Might have the goal scoring ability to avoid the shootouts and just win the damn game.
Common sense? Backup/time share in Philly or #1 in Buffalo. You'd have to think he'd pick Buffalo. - Losman
All I saw is that he was mad he was traded for playing well. He was a casualty of the tank and an unfortunate one at that since he was good. But I don't think he was coming back to Buffalo either way. Same with Johnson. He went home. I don't think we were keeping him no matter what we did within the realm of possibility.
