Matt Henderson: Obviously Yakupov Should Play With McDavid - Matt_Henderson
What would be a reasonable return at the trade deadline for Yak?
Is there anyone who would trade for him that would also protect him in the expansion draft? If not than best case scenario seems like a second round pick.

I'll give him to you for that Marner kid. Or Reilly if you'd prefer. |

Honestly, you're probably right. But if the choice is lose him for nada or get a 2nd then the choice has to be the 2nd. |

Yakupov still has sick all-world level talent. No reason he couldn't do something insane like score 40 goals with McDavid on his line. |

The reason he won't is because he is Yakupov. |

Matt Henderson: Obviously Yakupov Should Play With McDavid - Matt_Henderson
You did good the other day blogging with no Corsi, then BAM, you come back with a blog that is the atomic bomb of unicorn stats. Not impressed Hendo, not impressed.
On a more serious note. Thinking that playing Yak with McDavid will drive his value up is kind of silly, unless he will be going to another team that has a McDavid. My Spidey senses tell me that this will not be the case. |

i was thinking the same thing but i guess the thought is that if he can be a depth top 6 option for a team looking to make a push for the cup at the trade deadline... would he produce similarly with a guy like Joe Thornton, for example?
EDIT: nice blog btw |

I would much rather keep Yak than trade him for a 2nd rounder. We don't need more draft picks. Even at his current production rate, I would rather have him on the 3rd line with 2nd unit PP time than a 2nd rounder. |

If the guy looks like he's salvaged his career there might be a taker. If he actually does then maybe Edmonton rolls the dice that he isnt taken in the draft. No idea, but he should play with McDavid anyway |
