Is there anyone who would trade for him that would also protect him in the expansion draft? If not than best case scenario seems like a second round pick.

Yakupov still has sick all-world level talent. No reason he couldn't do something insane like score 40 goals with McDavid on his line.

On a more serious note. Thinking that playing Yak with McDavid will drive his value up is kind of silly, unless he will be going to another team that has a McDavid. My Spidey senses tell me that this will not be the case.

i was thinking the same thing but i guess the thought is that if he can be a depth top 6 option for a team looking to make a push for the cup at the trade deadline... would he produce similarly with a guy like Joe Thornton, for example?

I would much rather keep Yak than trade him for a 2nd rounder. We don't need more draft picks. Even at his current production rate, I would rather have him on the 3rd line with 2nd unit PP time than a 2nd rounder.

If the guy looks like he's salvaged his career there might be a taker. If he actually does then maybe Edmonton rolls the dice that he isnt taken in the draft. No idea, but he should play with McDavid anyway
