Well he had less points in his senior season that Zach Hymen, so I'd say, not very good |

Your source who said he wouldn't get 20 goals in the AHL is wrong. Vesey will immediately become one of the top 5 prospects in the game. He's that good.
He'll be a Bruin. I am sure of it. - Bruiniak
weren't you also sure that he'd sign in boston by noon yesterday...... |

- BINGO!
I said it on another blog, but the only way I think the Vesey hype would be justified/cool would be if he actually signs with a team like Carolina or New Jersey.

I don't think it happens. Not sure I want it to, either. |

The league has to close this loop hole. Its terrible, he should have just signed in nashville. His decision not to is just odd, the team is set up to be a contender for years especially once they add a couple more forwards. - mauryballstein
Its not a loophole. Each team holds a draftees rights for a set amount of time, I believe 3 years. If they don't sign they can become a FA but they lose those years they could have been pro plus any money. Its a risk that he and Kevin Hayes have taken. Its their right to go this route. It sucks but you can't have a team hold rights forever. |

oh stop. he may not pan out, he will, but he was deserving of the Hobey Baker. - Fountain-San
Connor should have won it running away.
However Vesey was a deserving finalist. |

There is no loophole. He's 23. How long after you are drafted does a team own you? Until you die? The rule was written the way it is on purpose. Not as some, oh crap we didn't think about this scenario.
If he was a former first round pick there is compensation from the team that signed him to the team that drafted. I'm not sure if it's a first rounder though. Isn't that proof enough that this type of scenario was given explicit consideration when crafting the rule?
He was drafted as a 3rd round pick like a hundred years ago. 3rd rounders aren't very valuable. Preds didn't lose much. |

Jeremy Welsh:
19 points in 39 games at 21
37 Points in 40 games at 22
44 points in 40 games at 23 (including 27 goals)
Career AHLer. - BINGO!
You're better than this Bingo.
There were a lot of guys in the WHL that dominated (Dale Derkatch, Dan Hodgson, Brad Moran, etc) that did nothing in the NHL.
However none were 6'2, a great skater and had an NHL release.
That's what the scouts are looking at. |

Sure, but Welsh was a solid skater and had great size as a college free agent too.
He's not Vesey level, but he wasn't that far off at the time.
I'm not expecting much. |

I'm thinking Tyler Bozak level of success.
Maybe more goals.
Certainly not the same player but that kind of level of points. |

he is a legit prospect but people thinking he is going to be an all star are crazy, he probably be a good 2nd liner.
my comments were to the guy saying top 5 prospect in the league. so i pointed out that he isnt even the best player in college hockey. |
