I suspect someone had a little crush on Garrison. - Marwood
I think you may be right...I never understand why people want to talk about old castoffs. Shall Carol wright a blog about the Garbage 7? Let's focus on the present and the future...and Las Vegas of course |

Province asking the question again today " Should Canucks trade Edler?".
I think as a stand alone trade no. It also depends on what they are getting back. If you can get your future center back, then your ears perk up a little.
You would need to get back someone also to hold the fort for 2-3 years , the same length as Edlers contract. - VANTEL
Its all about the return, as much as i would like to trade Edler, the return wouldnt be worth it at this point |

I see your point but moving Edler in three years might get you a second round pick . If the Rumor of Kane and a Dman for a first has some truth then we have too many D |

Like you said in your last sentence, a replacement would be needed......yeah we might get an ok forward, but the hole created by the loss of Edler would be huge. Someone said his stats dipped because of increased responsibilities, I (imo) agree. With the emergence of Tryamkin, the possible play of Gudbranson, I bet dollars to doughnuts Edler's production is bound to improve. Then that begs the question, if we have the 2011 Edler back, why trade him? I personally am in "hurry up and wait mode" for the season to start, because I think people her will be surprised. (Alot of people who hate the Canucks, will always hate the Canucks......If we won every single game, bashers would start a "you guys have the worst jersey in the NHL" campaign. Haters will hate)
And the Howard for Miller thing.....3 steps backward......unless they really sweeten the pot......would Howard and a 1st work? I personally would want more, a midfirst (if Detroit does ok between 15/20 overall doesn't seem enough for 2 more years of 5.5 mil in cap) |

GM's are all on vacation right now, the good news is the tier 2 UFA's are signing elsewhere. Hope the same happens with Hruder. You can always hope something is brewing behind the scenes in the silence. Just like what happened with Gud.

I think trading Edler would be the right move but I also don't think this is likely a playoff team.
They should be able to get some nice young pieces for him but I doubt they get a player that would help them as much as he does now. |

This is pure speculation on my part. I am just responding to Greggs comments on his source post from yesterday . He mentioned Edler would waive for two western teams.
My speculation would be the Ducks because of Bieksa Raymond Kesler or to play with fellow Swede OEL.
If it was Arizona I would like to get Clayton Keller who was highly praised and taken 10 th Or 9 th OA by the Yotes. |

Then we should insist on Vrbata back instead of a worthless prospect. Arizona gets a well rounded dman that oozes intangibles for their cup run. Vancouver gets a cagy veteran/ former 30 goal scorer to provide grit, balance and leadership in their top 6. The more I think about it this trade makes a lot of sense for both teams |
