Given his history of playing with the Habs I can understand that.... not to mention the memory of somebody wearing a Leafs jersey laughing at him while repeatedly punching his nose...

Toronto fans really do crack me up.

Vesey IS NOT going to Toronto. Would you like to know why?
1. Cost of living is ridiculous
2. Toronto has been absolutely TERRIBLE since... Well, pretty much forever.
3. It's a different country for a kid who seems like he doesn't want to leave his mommy.
4. See #2.
5. Why would he actually choose Toronto, when he can go to ANY OTHER team in the league?!?! (he has a choice)
6. Name a single FA that has signed there; that wasn't past his prime, or was just looking to cash in at the end of their career.
7. The media attention. I doubt a low key kid will want to be in front on 70 cameras/microphones after a Tuesday night preseason game.
8. He won't even be able to go to the gas statiom without getting unwanted attention from crazy fans.

I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons, but im sure you get the point. Nobody wants to go to Toronto, period!

I don't believe he will sign in Toronto.

His father works for the Leafs but if he is a Mommy's boy as you assert wouldn't Boston be the most likely landing spot?

Nor do I.

I mean, if he does, free asset - cool. But in addition to the top end prospects like Marner, Matthews and Nylander, we have guys like Brown, Soshnikov, Hyman who he will be fighting with for time. Hell, even Leivo is the same age and position and has shown more through productive AHL play than Vesey has in his zero pro experience thus far.

Vesey MIGHT sign in Toronto. Would you like to know why?

1) Toronto is the epicenter of hockey. Some people like that pressure and want to thrive in that environment. Some people would rather play for Buffalo or Columbus.
2) Toronto has a premier front office and one of (if not) the best coach in the NHL. His Dad is a part of the Maple Leafs scouting team and I'm sure there has been some talk around the supper table about what Toronto is trying to build and how they are going about doing that.
3) He will likely play the wing with Auston Matthews in a third line role. Meaning he get to play with a projected top line offensive center, without the responsibility and spotlight of actually playing on the top line.
4) Vesey can sign with any team in the league. However, he has picked eight, and Toronto was one of them. Long before Buffalo acquired his rights, and before he officially decline Nashville's offer it was said that he would sign with Toronto or Boston.

That being said, I don't really care if they sign him or not. Like someone else said, if he signs, then great, he's a free asset. But I'm not banking on this kid being a front line star like many have him pegged.

Yup. Both teams have been bad, now on the upswing. Both cities have pros and cons. Should hopefully have a good long-term on-ice rivalry for the next few years

Being proud of your community is commendable, knocking someone else's is not. If Vesey signs in Toronto the only person more overrated in that organization will be their coach. Everything said about Buffalo and Toronto other than size and population can be used universally. We both suck and are hoping our teams pan out. I still cant imagine why anyone with the options he has would sign with either organization to be honest.

Funny...you never hear of anything but cons regarding Buffalo when it comes to Leafs posters...people in the FAR SUPERIOR city.

But yeah...a Sabres fan bashing ANY other team in that fashion is nuts. While I'm firmly in the "No cups since more than 6 teams" camp...I can't exactly brag about my own team's success - so I don't go out of my way to make some other location look poopty (at least, using some franchise-long sort of argument - pointing out recent history I have no problem knocking other teams, or my own).

You what disappointed me the most about going to see a game in Buffalo though?

I was god damn certain I would be able to eat chicken wings at the game and despite looking like a madman between periods, never found a food stand that was selling them.

Other than that, was lots of fun, people were nice and there was alot of friendly teasing.....and omfg Gomez scored a goal for the Habs.

I've only spent a limited amount of time in Buffalo and personally prefer the bigger city and faster pace of Toronto... that said, any city is what you make of it, and every place has nice areas... I'm sure that there's some lakefront properties around Buffalo that are to die for, for instance.

Bear in mind that I also spent 7 years in Edmonton and was very happy there, so have a seemingly low bar for the acceptable

Last two times I was at the arena were for the draft and a draft party. Living away from home now I don't get to see games.

It would be a disgrace if there were NO wings there, but they're probably in some place you just didn't get to...I can't picture them not being sold in the arena, that would be weird.

That's one thing I will say - wings are cheaper in Canada, but I'll be damned if they aren't typically much better down here...

I need someone to confirm the presence of buffalo wings in the arena... if someone does and tells me where they are, I'm coming back.
