The tumbleweeds also have something to do with the parents that think their kid is going pro at whatever sport/skill they have, sticking them in gyms/training/power skating 24/7 - WhiteLie
to live these days you need dual incomes. This makes for little time for children. The children are the casualty....children sitting in from of screens while parents scramble for dinner.
children glued to screens at lunch hour.....not near enough exercise.
My nephew was diagnosed with ADHD and I got him enrolled in Judo since that sport works you extremely hard....he straightened right out. Settled him down.
Now he's black belt and has competed in various countries including Japan. He just needed more intensive exercise than he was getting. |

I agree, even minor exercise has a positive effect on focus. It cannot be over-stated actually. That does not mean your kid needs to be a pro athlete. It just means if they play some soccer at lunch they are going to be in a much better position to focus in class for the rest of the day.
I've heard doing 20 push-ups has a more significant impact on reducing fatigue than having a cup of coffee and I believe it because it works. You work yourself vigorously for a short period of time and afterwards you will not feel nearly as tired. It will also help you get a better nights rest to be more prepared for the next day.

Agreed, my point was to the balance of lifestyles too. Kids cant be training 24/7 or they will lack the simple social skills to be a normal member of society. Playing multiple sports, or silly playground games does wonders to distract from the pressures of a sport and school and burn off some of that energy. Parents neglect that, let kids be kids growing up while providing some reasonable structure to their lives. |

Ironically having this conversation while we watch the Olympics. I get the feeling some athletes, like McDavid it seems, were the ones who just had that passion and ultimately pushed a lot harder than their parents ever pushed.
Then you have the Patrick O'Sullivan's of pro sports whose parents pushed them through everything unwillingly... |

No poop hey?
I went a couple times in high school and had an unreal time. Really makes things like Squamish and Pemby music fests seem like a huge turn off.
Guessing ur cousin is from Dunster or McBride?
