Not only that but promoting the Anti-Canuck sentiment during the 2011 cup run…pretty much lost the last shred of respect I had for the guy.

But the final shred came in Red Deer a few years back when we were hosting the Allan Cup finals. Maclean was asked by the people running the Allan Cup if he would come back to Red Deer and speak at the tournament for a day at the banquet and such…but Maclean basically told them 'I can't waste my time coming back to Red Deer for any less than $100,000 for a one day appearance' Here we have a guy where his 'hometown' has graciously asked him to help the city out with a big event, and he shoves the cash thing in our faces. Many people locally here just couldn't believe it. We had to rename the 'Ron Maclean' peewee tourney here in RD as he never shows anymore for it to help the kids out. The guy may be decent at his job…but he's a f**king goof.

If you watch just about any sporting event the hosts/announcers have a biased towards their team.

I think Ron is pretty balanced. We may not like it that he wasn't too pro-Canuck during the cup run but lets face it much of Canada was against us because of the team's behaviour.

no kidding. every person/broadcaster says or has has some dumb opinions. whenever something negative gets said about a team or player, a certain percentage of any fan base will just scream that the person "hates" that team or player. it just seems that the canucks have an inordinate number of those types of fans who take every slight as a signal that the broadcaster "hates" the team or that it is some form of conspiracy to punish the canucks.

with respect to tv broadcasters, i for one, find it absolutely shocking that both private and public companies are trying to maximize their viewership by putting greater focus on highly populated areas. it's almost as those companies want to increase advertising revenue so they can make money. for shame!

Garrett is pretty bad ...like I have many friends who are Canucks fans and they hate him ...love shorthouse though ..wouldn't surprise me to see him doing hughsons gig soon

I agree that the fan base of all teams think broadcasters are biased against their teams. Canucks most legitimate complaint is the volume of coverage for Toronto based teams. That's just straight viewership though.
