He flew to VAN on his own dime to host a Canuck house event. Would Maclean do that? Or to any other western city? |

I agree that the fan base of all teams think broadcasters are biased against their teams. Canucks most legitimate complaint is the volume of coverage for Toronto based teams. That's just straight viewership though. - Canada Cup
So I ask when looking at TSN, Sportsnet, etc, if they are national networks with a focus on Toronto and surrounding area or are they Toronto networks with some national coverage?
I think it is more the latter, and really noticed it when sportsnet cut back their regional coverage.
It must be easy/convenient to have all that Toronto coverage with all the networks hq'd there but branding yourself a national network does not make you a national network, or at least a very good one. |

My guess is that they mostly care about ad revenues. Being truly national is a distant second consideration. |

no kidding. every person/broadcaster says or has has some dumb opinions. whenever something negative gets said about a team or player, a certain percentage of any fan base will just scream that the person "hates" that team or player. it just seems that the canucks have an inordinate number of those types of fans who take every slight as a signal that the broadcaster "hates" the team or that it is some form of conspiracy to punish the canucks.
with respect to tv broadcasters, i for one, find it absolutely shocking that both private and public companies are trying to maximize their viewership by putting greater focus on highly populated areas. it's almost as those companies want to increase advertising revenue so they can make money. for shame! - RealityChecker

I think they are pretty national at CBC. HNIC is very eastern during the early game, but the late game has a distinct western flavour. |

Good guy just a dreadful hockey host. He was awkward little brother. But like I said, a pretty decent fellow. |

I agree. Was referring more to the private guys. CBC historically has been a significant unifying force in the country. |

Last night was a classic example of that. As a taxpayer, i'm more than happy they sacrificed a few million dollars in order to bring something truly Canadian to Canadians. |
