I agree and don't believe that he promised Nashville he would sign with them....but I also don't believe he advised them that he was not going to sign with them....should he not have done that in fairness to the Preds to allow them to explore deals at the deadline?

I don't think there should be an obligation or expectation for the player to do that. Teams trade players all the time without talking to them about it first. So I don't see why a player should have to do something for a team that a team wouldn't necessarily do for them.

Last Leafs/Sabres game I went to (I think it was the HSBC Arena then) the Leafs stayed true to form and were down about 2 or 3 nothing at the end of the 1st period. It didn't get any better from there.

In the 2nd intermission I was in the washroom taking a leak and started chatting with the guy next to me (also in a Leafs jersey).

He had come down in a chartered bus - it got stuck in traffic on the QEW and at the border. They arrived with about 2 minutes left in the 2nd - with the Leafs down by a redonkulous amount. Poor bastard.

Buffalo is the closest away game for Toronto, but no franking way I'm going back there until the curse is broken. I don't need to drive for two hours just to see the Leafs get humiliated - I can do that at home 40 times this year, thank you very much.

Went to a Sabres game in Toronto last year. Sabres were down early and down by 2 goals twice and came back to win it in a shootout. Was a fun game and the fans were fun to talk to (and fun to poop talk back and forth).

You are forgetting he stiffed the team that drafted him (Nashville) by not clearly telling the Predators management he had no intention of signing with them prior to the trade deadline. This says a lot about his character.

It seems like Jimmy was waiting until after the Hobey Baker voting to come out with the fact he wasn't signing and if true it's doesn't reflect well on him. But Nashville were idiots not to try and improve their team at the trade deadline because they thought Vesey was going to sign. No GM should ever pin his playoff hopes on kid who hasn't played a minute of pro hockey. Its' just wrong.

That said, Nashville got their pick back from Buffalo which is pretty remarkable...

Nashville can whine all they want, he didn't owe them anything, no prospect really does. For Nashville fans I understand why they're salty. For the rest of the league, though, there's no reason to be mad at the kid. I've seen Sabres fans that want us to jump him when we play him. Like, why? Because he didn't sign with us when he never had any indication he would?

It's funny - I always read about Leafs fans going to Buffalo and being complete douchebags, picking fights, etc.

That poop would never be tolerated at the ACC - if you are an idiot to a visiting fan, other Toronto fans report you and you are escorted out (same goes for visiting fans, so don't get ideas).

A lot of people will tell you Leafs fans are too passive, but they've never been to a playoff game (which may not be their fault - they've been pretty rare lately). I've never been to a louder game than the game 7 collapse of Ottawa in Toronto (which one? you might ask - the one where Lalime couldn't decide whether to use his blocker or catcher on a weak wrister).

It may be an upscale crowd, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, I love drunken gong shows too - that's why I go to Bills games.
