Harrington really isn't that off on the tampering aspect.

Having it leaked that your GM and coach (Chicago) is scouting a summer league game where the player is another teams property is borderline tampering IMO.

For all we know, that could have effected him signing here.

Actually going to a summer league game instead of just getting the video was a clever way of letting it leak that Chicago was heavily interested before it was Aug 16th

I'll tell you what though, I was hoping that we'd be able to say "Hey we took a good shot and wish we got him but oh well" but we're not. There are some real Buffalo fans who think this kid deserves to be boo'd and deserves to be run just because he got traded here. I really don't get why since last I checked the players don't have a say in getting traded.

Had he never been traded this wouldn't have been a big deal at all.

I'm absolutely certain "tampering" is the fans' least understood concept in the management of the league.

Its really no different than scouts looking at players about to hit UFA. Is it tampering if the Sabres were scouting okposo during the playoffs?

Its not tampering, if a game is open to the public, anyone is welcomed to watch. They are not having any direct conversations with him, his agent, or commenting about him in the press,

He comes across as whiny. In a city like Buffalo the only thing he could have said was "Sabres tried to get him but he decided against it but good on the team for trying". Anything else and you look like the image of the city that we're trying to leave behind.

Vesey was never coming to Buffalo but we had enough 3rds to try. When he said no that was a bummer but it wasn't a big deal.

Right. On a given night, if the backup is playing they toss out the (alleged) scouting report. Makes perfect sense. Not to mention he was killing our tanking effort when he was the starter here.

I understand what actual tampering is. What Chicago did was clever, not really tampering. So I guess I shouldn't have said borderline.

It's more eye rolling than anything else

I agree with this. I have heard that Chicago had another guy (they already drafted) playing in those games, so that could be their easy way out. (although scouting your own player during summer games seems like a bad gauge of that player).

I think tampering is something to do with talking with player or agent or in the media (directly), which I am not sure they did at all.

Crying over this wont help us, just move on.

exactly, why couldnt he just of left it as Sabres went for it, Vesey played the system, got what he wanted, and move on.

Tampering...justifying the move, etc...its just adding fuel to the fire. Murray tried to swoop in, it didnt pan out, so move on....dont write articles being mad abotu this like he was a sabres drafted and developed talent.

To be fair, he would've know on the 16th who was interested in him as him and his agent repeatedly said "We are going to free agency". I don't think it matters whether he found out on the 10th or 16th that Chicago was interested. Under no circumstances was he signing anywhere before the 16th.

Not by his doing. He wasn't the one who traded himself. He said he wanted to be a free agent and he did. He said he'd meet with teams and he did. He said he's make a decision soon after and he did. The media is the one who wrote 500 articles on it. Had this happened in June/July it'd be a footnote but in the dog days of summer it became a big thing.

I just feel like those people who want him run are mad because he didn't sign with their team when he never gave any sign that he ever wanted to.

Fasching seems to be a polarizing kid. Some people are pretty low on him and others think he's going to really pan out. I know skating is his big knock but from what I saw in a very small sample size it wasn't as though he was unable to keep up with the speed of the game. He wasn't burning players, but I didn't think he was skating in honey either.

Bailey, Carrier, Fasching, Asplund. Need 2 of those 3 to pan out if we want to be good.

- Zschalberg

If he's gonna be a top6 kinda guy he still has a ways to go IMO
His skating has improved quite a bit though, so I am hopeful he can continue to get better at it
I think he spends a couple years in the AHL working on it

If we're gonna trade for someone good,
we're gonna have to give up a good prospect
At this point,
I'd rather trade him than Bailey
Skating seems to be becoming more & more important
Even if he doesn't work out as a scorer,
Bailry can still slide up & down the lineup bc of how well he skates
That's valuable IMO

You can justify the move and say that it was a good attempt because it was. But don't sound like a kid who lost a game and then starts calling the other kids cheaters.

Sure, but maybe he decides to sign if he didn't know he'd be meeting with a ton of teams.

I'm probably wrong, but I think the scenario became annoying by Thursday

I agree, The draft pick is peanuts in the long run, Sabres tried...at least they were willing to give it a shot. If they didnt, they might not even be in the conversation if they waited till the 16th.
