update
so far with the question of the day
if this team is in the bottom 10 again after this year
clean house upstairs?
yes or no only please
5 yes
6 no - homiedclown
No.
Jack is 19. Reinhart is 20. The goalie got hurt. Half the team was new to each other last year. 2 years isn't enough time. It took at least 3 years (my math might be wrong, but it wasn't one or two seasons) before the Penguins were studs after Malkin and Crosby were drafted.

Pens made the playoffs the 2nd year Crosby was there. 1st year of Malkin.
I don't think the question is Eichel or Reinhart. They will be very good barring injuries. The question is are the pieces good enough around them.

If we could sign Hudler, I would like the top 6 a lot more. I just don't know if Murray has interest.

So I got a letter from the Sabres today saying they're eliminating paper tickets and putting them all on a card. Didn't say how I'm going to be able to split the tickets up with the he people I share seasons with other than through their stupid new app or PRINTING THEM MYSELF. Of course we could keep passing the card around I suppose

No - he spent two years dismantling, stockpiling, and recycling.
In the only year he actually tried to move upward, he improved the team's result by 29 points. Those giant steps forward will be very difficult to duplicate, but as the team refines its system, and the on-ice talent that implements it, the deals should become less audacious and desperate, and more careful and focused on getting exactly the right fit.
We'll be good this year - and still getting better - next year the seat gets hot.

Well, you have a point.
He spent the pile in year two.... But he saved it first. - Der Kaiser
I think this team has to be good for the sanity of many. I think it would take a lot of bad to happen for us not to be close to a playoff spot. If we are bottom 10, I give up
I was wondering about the captain's hat references from the other day. I know I've seen it in a movie/TV show. But I didn't realize it was Dareus' thing.
Normally I would say no but as has been pointed out many times, GMTM stuck his neck out and made major moves with the intention of a) getting more known assets which in turn means b) speeding up the timeline of the rebuild.
If the current makeup of the team finishes in the bottom 10 it probably means one of four things.
1)Key injury or a string of injuries which I guess is okay unless its the injury prone players he's brought int
2) The core is flawed, highly unlikely this is the case but if it is then yea he 100 percent deserves to be canned.
3) The support/complimentary players just aren't good enough and it can't be covered up (i.e Eichel/Reinhart are not enough or Lehner cant steal enough games like Miller and the 2012 sabres)
4) Core is incomplete
#3/#4 is my bet if they miss the playoffs. I actually think Lehner will have a big year, I think Eichel, Reinhart, Risto will take huge steps forward. I even think Kane and Ennis could see a bump in stats. I hate Kulikov as our 25 minute guy, or Bogo or an unprepared McCabe for that matter. And the "bottom 6" or 3rd part of the top 9 just isn't good and or fast enough.
I know people always point to the fact that we conceded the same number of goals as the NYR avec Lundqvist and how we could barely score but what never gets pointed out is a) 3 of their 4 d-men are Yandle, Staal and Girardi. B) The cause of our lack of scoring. IMO its not talent up front, it can't be. The same team that can score as many goals as it did on the PP while looking dysfunctional half the time (how often did we tear our hair out last year over this) does not have a talent problem up front.
They had way too much trouble getting out of their own end. Spending too much time in your own end=less time in the offensive end. Lots of cases where the defencemen couldnt make a clean pass or they did and the forward botched it and it led to a prolonged stay in the d-zone.

But do u give Murray credit for drafting them?
You or i or anyone on these boards could've made those picks
IMO, the only way we could finish bottom10 is if goaltending let's us down
Lehner is all on Murray,
And while I'm hopeful for him, he's still unproven
So if falters or gets hurt,
I think we're in BIG trouble
And Murray definitely didn't get a backup who we know will be a reliable fill in
