Last year's result was on par with what it should have been IMO. - sbroads24
What do you mean exactly? Last year was on par with what it should have been given the moves the team made? Or last year was just on par with the improvement that you would expect from a rebuilding team coming off back-to-back last place finishes? Or maybe something else?
*EDIT* I think your post right above mine answers my question.
Difference is they didn't make big deals for a ROR or Kane.
They made their goalie trade, and other deals for guys like Kerby Rychel. - sbroads24
JVR was better than any Sabre during the leadup and tank years though, I think you'd agree, and is on par with O'Reilly, so that negates the biggest deal to "speed up" Buffalo's rebuild/equalized Toronto on that point.
Edit: and Bozak is equal, points wise at least, with Kane

Pointswise JVR is about what ROR is, but ROR is way more valuable to the Sabres than JVR is to the Leafs just based on their positions.
Edit: ROR has JVR handily beat in points. JVR had 29 in 40 or a 59.45 point pace. ROR had 60 in 71 for a 69.3 point pace. So ROR is way more valuable.

Kadri would be the equivalent of ROR. With O'Reilly being slightly better.
I realize the previous regime made the trade, but they ripped off Philly for JVR.
Their prospects are better. Our roster is better. I'd expect there jump a year from now

Couldn't find the breakdown of TOI to see if JVR plays in all situations or not, but career-wise, he's on par points wise with O'Reilly (slightly better than ROR in p/g). I know points aren't everything, but JVR > any Sabre during the last 3 seasons I'd guess, and he's a pretty darn good NHLer overall.
Sure, he's not a Center, but still a lot better than anything Buffalo had recently.

Not really arguing that they'll have another down year, I think they will due to all the youngsters they still need to groom - and lots of talk from Leafs fans that they doubt too many will get ice time due to Babcok.
They think they have about 5-6 solid rookies they'd like to see play, but most seem to think coaching will limit them to probably 3 (Matthews and Nylander the 2 "locks) until late in the year (post TDL).
I think they suffer a bit more this season, but it's not a bad thing overall for them.

Fair enough, and I'd love to have him, but the key word is had.
I actually live 30 miles from Atlanta Motor Speedway - 22sabresQ
I bought tickets in May... Tried to sell but said (frank) it last week when nobody wanted to buy. I'm staying in a hotel in McDonough (sp?) instead of camping in 90 degree heat.

This is probably the funniest thing I've read in a while:
Encarnacion insisted he was free of sexually transmitted diseases, TMZ reported, and suggested the woman may have picked up the infections when they the two went four-wheeling or when she swam in a river near Punta Cana. - http://sports.yahoo.com/n...-knowingly-210730674.html
Not the fact that he allegedly gave her the STDs, but his "suggestion" on how she actually got them.
