Closer to 40 than to 20. - Wildschwein
After you said you didn't know Deadmarsh I woulda had to guess < 20 even though I always assumed you were older than that. Any reason you're such a late bloomer into the hockey world? |

Laughs is a nice thing. You are lucky he came out of retirement after a year and a half locked in his sisters basement with no Internet. - leonkennedy
I would never objectify Laughs by referring to him as a thing. He gloriousness is too great to objectify with so unsuitable a word. |

To me, this makes both your ability and willingness to learn and adjust your viewpoints all the more impressive to me. In my experience (limited as it may be), that's fairly rare to find in society at all, let alone in people in the age range between 25 and 50. That age between when someone finishes university and are suddenly experts at everything and before they're "behind the times" enough that they're forced to accept their shortcomings and adapt.
I mean no offense by this to anyone else by the way; merely my observations from working in the tech world. |

The age when someone finishes university? You should go check out a college or university campus in the year 2016. There are all sorts of people over 25 getting educated these days. Ageism and stereotyping. At least you stated that you "mean offense" |

Never got into it as a kid. There were local rinks but I was never taught to skate and so I developed other interests. Then one day I started reading about the Oilers in the local paper to pass my lunch hours at work and it kinda lit a spark. Started gabbing hockey at the water cooler and joining guys at the pub for games. Now I'm addicted. |

Agree 100%... There were students in their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and probably even older at my university... It wasn't even rare to see students who looked 40 or 50+ |

Good catch, I'm gonna change that now
What I meant was more about those who start university right after or soon after high school and don't really get any worldly experiences that humble them in any way. I could've worded it better to convey that point.
On that note though, I find that people who start university later or go back to university are less likely to be this way. When they start at an older age they're typically are more aware of their own flaws and limitations (can be what kept them out of uni) and when they go back they're working at improving themselves whether by choice or out of necessity (something/someone humbled them).
As with most generalizations this by no means goes for everybody, but it's a trend I've experienced. |

I've always been into it, played competitively from an early age, but never followed as much until I was shown this site by a friend. Before that I would just get info from sportsnet, TSN or the dreaded NHL website...

I've done that before but that was two years ago. I've worked at a Telus corporate dealership for the past year and a half as a dual-duty sales person and "tech expert" (though I'm far from an expert). I've also done a little side job helping people build, upgrade, and fix their computers. I just left that job to prep for university, though. |

Starting out with the Radio Arts and Entertainment diploma program then (money permitting) I'm aiming to add a Business Administration certificate to enhance and broaden my appeal. I've spent the past 3.5 years saving so I'm hoping I can at least get through the first program debt-free, but it wouldn't be the end of the world to need a student loan considering what I've heard and read about BCIT's post-graduation employment rate. |
