Pirri has averaged 25g per 82 games so far
He's gotta be doing something right

For the price we'd have to sign him for, why not?
It's not like we have to sign him to a 5 year deal

If he sucks, bench him & bring up Bailey
If he gets hurt, bring up Bailey

Or quite possibly,
He stays healthy & scores goals

But he's 25 and he's run through three different franchises. At this point he is who he is: a combination of Stafford and Connolly. 25 goals is a number he might get if he ever played a full season, but hasn't done either yet. [His numbers are really boosted significantly by one real good(shortened) year in Florida.]

For $825k he may not be a waste of money, but I'm not sure he's part of anything going forward, and at this point I want the team focused on going forward, not just filling gaps in the short term.

I think there is a feeling among many that we need to get another body after having missing out on Vesey and a trade for a D. I don't see it that way. We have bunch of guys who are going to be breaking through in the next year - I just don't see any of these FA's as being upgrades. Pirri is intriguing but if he doesn't work out he is still another guy taking up a slot.

I never had a problem with RR until they got bought out. Same with Molson and Labatts.
Now they're just Miller/Coors/Bud in a diffrent colored can.

I wouldn't mind an Edler/Risto pairing. I proposed an Edler for Kane swap a few weeks ago in the Nucks thread, a few liked it, most didn't.

As far as expansion draft goes...
Eichel & Reinhart are exempt
I'd assume O'Reilly, Okposo, Ennis & Kane are protected for sure
That leaves us 3 others to protect between Larsson, Foligno, Girgensons & potentially Pirri
If we sign him to a deal longer than 1 year...
And he plays well enough that we have to expose Foligno (or whoever), then I can live with that
Or we could potentially trade whatever forward of that groups we might have exposed?


There could be more to him not being signed as u suggest
I think it might be that he isn't very good defensively
I can live with that if he's getting 20+ though

And if Ennis is in the top6,
Then we do need someone to play with Girgensons & Moulson
He could play center w Girgs on the wing, or vice versa

No thanks. He's either really injury prone, or not good enough to crack the lineup. Given his points, I'm guessing it's injuries.

According to his Wikipedia page he plays for the devils. Further investigation required.

Edit: Cap friendly and Generalfanager both have him as a UFA still. (frank)ing wikipedia...

Double edit: $1.5M is way too much for him. That would be an over 50% raise. He didn't play 50% better.

Guess it depends how camp and preseason goes. He might still get that 9 game tryout. His highlights from dev camp just seemed ok . Some sick moves but nothing done under any sort of NHL pressure.

I'd like to see how he plays in the pre season games. He's our #1 prospect at this point, I would hate to rush him. The kid has a bright future.
