I gave up on sports talk radio in Philly. I use Pandora/Spotify/SiriusXM as I drive anymore.

I'm a podcast guy. Everytime I listen local I end up yelling at the radio when they talk hockey. It's just completely embarrassing. I don't think there's been an intelligent hockey exchange since Steve Fredricks was in the chair.

If I do hockey talk it's SiriusXM's station and it's across the league chatter so I can handle the occasional WIP style caller even when it's a Pens or Rangers call. They do a pretty good job of screening callers it seems.

There are plenty of times they play the organ for people to chant Let's go Flyers some dolt will chant Crosby sucks doesn't matter the opposition.

I don't see why people get so upset over this? It's the star player of the Flyers most heated rivalry. Everyone knows the guy is a perennial all-star and future HOF-er. It doesn't deter the fact that most fans hate him and for good reason. Even ignoring his rookie-season theatrics, the guy still gives us plenty of ammo by saying the wrong things and acting like a petulant child on the ice (refer to 2012 playoffs for recent antics).

So the result? The fan base resorts to a 3-syllable chant, one that you would usually designate to a team name (Rangers Suck, Penguins Suck, Devils Suck, etc) but substitute Crosby's name in there. You're free to attend the games and start a new chant if you want. They usually catch on.

At the end of the day, the fans will continue the chant until he announces that it's his final season. He'll receive a loud ovation in his final game in Philly and that will be the end of the story. I don't get caught up in it.

The guy owns the Flyers in Philly and like most star NHL players...I am sure he gets motivated by haters and doubters. Would be interesting to see if something else works. There's no need for any chant like that but I guess it's what people find exciting. I am a fan of several teams where chants like that don't happen.

If I am sitting next to someone like that at a game and I going to get mad at them? No...am I going to assume they are an idiot...Yes. Such is life I guess. Carry on with your chanting

Actually, that was over 4 years ago, April of 2012. I get that people don't like him because of the spoiled, petulant brat that he acted like when he first came into the league. But since that 2012 series, he's been no more of a whiner/complainer than Giroux has.

He's a great player but I don't appreciate his "Greatness" being forced on to us more than it needs to be. One example, Sidney Crosby should not be a Conn Smyth winner right now.

I will say that, during Game 3 of the 2012 ECQF, the Crosby Sucks chant was warranted. But after the dude torches you for 2G, 1A, and you're losing 6-2, I don't think you can say a guy "Sucks."
