Difference is I posted why this is...but thanks... - roenick97
What was the reason? All I saw was "One example, Sidney Crosby should not be a Conn Smyth winner right now." I didn't see any other reasons you listed as to why he should not have been named the MVP of the 2015-2016 Stanley Cup Finals. But if I missed them, I apologize.
I agree with you, by the way. He would have been 4th on my list after Murray/Kessel (1A/1B) and Bonino. But I don't think it was a terrible choice, given some of his OT goals, the way he reeled in his team, his 2-way play, and his point production given his deployment. |

MJL spotted in Tanner's comments. - jmatchett383
They're made for each other. They should have a sitcom where they share an apartment. |

I didn't like the choice because he was out played by players on the Sharks too. |

I would watch that. The thing is, Tanner knows exactly what he's doing. He may not have the greatest hockey mind in the world, but he knows exactly what he's doing with some of the stuff that he writes. He would just sit there with a smirk on his face while MJL tried to reason/logic his way out of it, and Tanner would just turn the knife deeper and deeper. |

Yes, I missed that little snippet on the end. Do you care to discuss why you are of the mind that "he wasn't the best player for either team?" Again, I agree that he wasn't the best player, IMHO opinion. But I wouldn't say he was an undeserving choice either. There have been a host of Conn Smythe Winners, including Toews in 2010 (Keith), Ward in 2006 (Brindy), Richards in 2004 (Lecavalier), where you could make a good case for 3-4 other players.
In the end, all I care about is who wins the Cup, although it's fun when a player on your favorite team wins an individual award. |

What's the difference between an Englishman and a Scotsman?
An Englishman says, "Hey, you, get off of my cloud."
A Scotsman says, "Hey, McCloed, get off of my ewe."
YEAH! |

looks like panthers set the market for an Amac dump. It will cost Sanheim in order to get a 3rd back most likely. |

Wow. Started listening to the Top 25 under 5 (top 5 under 5) podcast and...juts wow. Do these people realize that there are other NHL teams and players? - jmatchett383
They were just doing the Flyers but yeah, their grasp on the league is pretty loose unless they take sometime to look stuff up. |

Well first I would like an answer to my question. Let me say also that I'm legitimately asking.
Look, I just felt Phil Kessel, Matt Murray, Logan Couture and Martin Jones all had greater impacts for their teams. Was Crosby 6th in point totals adding up both sides?
As for Doughty, I haven't seriously watched the defense race since 2010 when I reallt believed Pronger was gonna win the Norris for us. By mid season though Duncan Keith I noticed was among top 5 in every major category among defensemen. Ice time, blocked shots, plus/minus and points. I don't know how everyone else shapes out but looks like Doughty had the highest plus/minus among great defenders and played a lot of ice time for his team while registering points. That's not easy. |

Doughty is the best defenseman in the league in my opinion.

I've been reading your blog for years and I truly look forward to it each day. Now I understand that it's the dog days of the offseason but come on Bill! Is this really the most interesting content you can think of? Analysis of the strengths/weaknesses of the current roster, Hypothetical scenarios/blockbuster trades, A look into the future - 2019-2020 Flyers roster predictions, ANYTHING relevant to the current state of the team for next year and beyond would be much a much appreciated and welcome change from the constant Alumni updates and whatever other (s)news-worthy material you've been pumping out lately. - loustuber
1. The Flyers hired me to be the 50th anniversary content writer and I am spending 40-plus hours a week developing it on top of HockeyBuzz. So if that has filtered into my writing here, sorry, but I am not inclined to apologize. When there is current team news, I am always on it.
2. I do mix in some analysis blogs, such a recent one on the Expansion Draft. Also some prospect news as relevant.
3. Training camp -- the time when we actually see who is stepping up, who gets injured, etc. -- is always when i do roster related stuff for the new season. Doing it in August is pointless because the outlook will change to some degree. It always does.
4. Every August, I do a lot of history, secondary type stuff that there is rarely time to do during the season (this coming season will be an exception/since it's the 50th anniversary).
5. I also work directly for the Flyers Alumni as well as the Flyers, so that content is going to remain a year-round part of the blog as far as Alumni events/ news is concerned.
6. Blogs are often intended as conversation starters that segway into other topics.
Basically, I am saying thanks for the feedback but every piece of content exists for a reason. The training camp blogs will be mostly current team focused as they should be.
