He's worth a lot more than a 3rd round pick... I just don't see him as the type of player Montreal would be looking at right now.... New Jersey, Toronto, Carolina, Arizona, Minnesota just to name a few would all have a huge interest in Yakupov and would pay a lot more than a 3rd for him - obie
Beaulieu for Yakupov
Pacioretty doesn't like Beaulieu.

Right... Weber being on a free fall of a decline... gotcha! - obie
Pacioretty doesn't like Weber. He once blocked one of his shots that was headed for the empty net. |

That would make the most sense value wise with Montreal maybe adding a pick or a F prospect, Maybe Andrighetto... But the Habs are already weak on the left side and trading Beaulieu without getting a LD back would create a bigger problem... |

You do realize that season he finished 2nd in Norris trophy votes, 12 votes behind Karlsson? |

Do you realize that Norris trophy voting is a joke, especially when used to evaluate players and their production/worth? |

We're talking about the GMs who traded Hall for Larsson and Subban for Weber. Who knows what kind of clown fiesta of a trade they've got brewing. |

Oh, and i said SINCE 2011. As in, his production has been declining SINCE. I didn't say that was a bad season by any means. |

Being good at blocking shots really just means that you're really good at kind of making up for the fact that you're really terrible at exiting your own zone cleanly.
Hits are utterly worthless. |

There really isn't much comparable on the Habs roster, either too good or too bad. I suspect any deal would be a salary dump for smaller assets or prospects. Many of the Habs forwards last year were AHL level players who were given a chance to shine, but couldn't match well with the top lines. The Oilers are chocked full of forwards, have added a lot of young dmen, and might want an upgrade in net, but I don't see that happening. If they send Yakapov to Montreal, expect the return to be a second round pick, a prospect and a salary that Montreal wants to shed to balance out Yak's pay. |
