Never heard the bolded before....
And yes, Boychuk was traded for Cap reasons, doesn't mean they shouldn't have traded perhaps other players or get something different in return. - Scabeh
You wouldn't unless you drink black and yellow kool-aid. There a bunch of retards here who think that or believe that he (frank)ed Horton's wife. They.(frank)ed.up. Bottom line. He was fired 2 years too late for it. |

PK also has high possession numbers because he often hangs on to the puck too long more often than not resulting in a turnover, also explaining why he sits near the top of the league in that category as well - obie
Considering possession metrics are based on shot attempts, great post |

Definitely not if he had that contract, anyway. - BINGO!
If your point is that having Weber means removing other players to fit him under the cap and therefore changing the team than yeah sure... things could have gone differently.
But if you just add Shea Weber in the Pens lineup instead of any other D than Letang (who played marvelously well) I just can't see how they could have done worse than they did. |

His possession numbers are based on shot attempts generated vs shot attempts against, not how long he actually has the puck on his own stick.
Basically, if you're shooting the puck, it's impossible for your opponent to be shooting the puck. |

I must say, it was a great trade that acquired Seguin for the Bruins.
And a terrible one that gave him away.
I'm glad we don't get to face him anymore. |

Oh they probably wouldn't. I don't think.
Shea Weber is a perfectly fine top 4 defenseman. He's just not an Elite top pairing defenseman, which is what Subban is. |

My post had nothing to do why the possession metric, my post stated that PK hangs on to the puck too long and turns it over a lot... I watched him play a lot over the last half decade, I don't need to run to possession metrics to tell me what kind of player PK is... |

I disagree, Weber is still one of the best out there and belongs in the Elite category.
But it's all been said before, we'll talk more about it during the season! |

That contract will kill you and it will be a driving force behind losing a guy like Larsson or Klefbom to the cap in a few seasons. But if you choose to ignore the track record, then go ahead keep doing you home slice.
That blue and copper suicide pact juice must taste great. |

Well Weber did have a NEGATIVE 16.95% relative scoring chances for during the playoffs last season. - Feds91Stammer
I wonder if the Habs can get a 7th round pick for Weber with his awful stats. Shouldn't Bergevin be fired for making such an awful trade? I wonder if Holland offered Brendan Smith (good corsi) for Weber...hmmm...I forgot. Holland doesn't make trades. |

I think we may just have a different opinion on "top defensemen".
For instance, I don't think Ekblad is better than Shea Weber right now, but will he be at some point? Yes, obviously sooner than later and yes I'd take him before Shea Weber if I was building a team.
But if my goal is to win THIS year and I need the best out there, Weber is in that top 10 for me for sure. - Scabeh
Ekblad was a +18, Weber a -7
Ekblad had a +30 goal diff while on the ice, Weber had a +3 although Weber saw significantly more PK time, they were fairly average at 16th in the league.
Looking at +/-, total goal diff, and shots generated/shots surpassed.. I don't see how Weber is better, even right now.
Ekblad>Weber still in my book.

You're welcome.
For what it's worth, I would have said it even if the trade didn't go down, just like I keep saying Subban also belongs in that category. |

What about goal scored? Don't those matter anymore?
Either way, as you can tell, I'm not a huge advanced stat guy and I don't really have an interest in them, no matter how flawed that is to evaluate a player, I'd rather make my own opinion by watching the player do his thing.
I'm not saying you're not watching the games as well btw. |
