Gionta had 15 more. Not really a big reflection on Nichuskin being so much better than Girgensons I'd think. - stashu
Gionta is irrelevant to this discussion though. We're talking about the relative value between Nichushkin and Girgensons. Also, Gionta is like 83 years old.

But yet he did much better than both of those young 1st round draftees.

Oh yeah. I forgot about Kucherov too. Someone posted it earlier; It's a staring contest now. Risto and Lindholm will use Trouba as a comp and all the permutations of those three. Monahan signed recently and I'm sure Kucherov and Gaudreau are using him as a comp too.
I'm not at all concerned about it. Ennis went well into September before he signed. Sure it was a little different, there was a lockout looming, but they still got it done before the lockout. There would have been an offer sheet already if one was coming. They either need to get rid of the offer sheet, or lower the cost to make it feasible to actually offer one.

The Reilly, Maatta, and Seth Jones deals should be the comparable for Trouba and Risto. I don't think either should be counting on getting close to what Lindholm will or should
He's a no brainer for us...so the lack of a deal could be, perhaps, him trying to get a higher number than proposed or logical. I have no reason to believe that to be the case yet the possibility remains as there are many RFA's that have signed, which is why I asked. I know Johnny Hockey was still in limbo, but if Trouba is as well I find that comforting.

Lindholm had 28 points last year. Risto had 41. Points weigh heavily, even for defensemen. Lindholm was +7 Risto was -21. Lindholm played 22:00 Risto played 25:16. Those are the 3 big categories they use. They are extremely old fashioned. Some advanced stats are creeping in slowly. I think they just allowed Corsi in the arbitration process last year. But that's it.

It's really not a big deal. Yet. If the World Cup starts without a deal you can start to feel uneasy. If training camp starts, the portion he'd attend after the World Cup, you can start to worry.

Vegas could do like the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim thing and go: Las Vegas Knights of the Mojave. That sounds way better than Las Vegas Desert Knights.

Knights could be tough . Most will think it's "nights" Actually both work.
