No doubt we need to get better but good teams also stock up on points from teams that aren't in the top 4. For us the main thing is we need to win games against teams that we should be better than by this time. You need to win games against Toronto, Columbus, New Jersey, maybe teams like Ottawa, Carolina. Then you need to at least split with teams like Boston and Detroit and Philly and maybe the Islanders who aren't much better than us and will be competing for those final spots. Then you steal some points against the top teams. Take care of the games that we should win and try and take some of the ones we should lose and we should have a good chance.

46 of their points last year came against 10 opponents. They missed out on "only" 20 points out of the potential 66 points they could have gotten against those 10 teams.

The Islanders and Flyers are the only 2 playoff teams out of those 10, and Buffalo took 8 of 12 possible points from those 2 teams (4 of 6 from each team).

So they did a lot of what they should have last year, so if they can build on it - as you point out - and start taking points from the better teams, they'll have a good shot of sniffing the playoffs.

Plus with hank holding down the front the going to become the wild of the east aka the tweeners

I think we are better than MTL for the most part.

While I think Boston is on a steep decline, they still have a competitive roster, same with Detroit.

I just feel as long as Price is healthy he's going to win them enough games that they'll be a good team. The trade definitely didn't make them better and they still have that same coach so that's our real chance

I didn't hear anything about it but doesn't mean it's not true. I doubt they are looking at him.

Scavenger hunt time. When was the last time the Sabres were above .500, counting an OTL/SOL as a loss? So 1-1-1 would be 1-2.

Additionally, when was the last time the Sabres were above .500 for points? So 1-1-1 would be .500 because 3 out of a possible 6 points.
