Can we please have some sort of hockey to shut people like Negative Nancy (RealityChecker) up? I mean even kaptaan doesn't go to these lengths to try and prove a point. It's like reading the great Twitter feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West, or just #McChicken. - DariusKnight
Why does there even have to be feuds between people, I mean I love all you guys....well almost all....and when I say love, it's not what you're thinking... |

As I just said to Vantel, it was just a poorly constructed team. - LeftCoaster
This comment is not at you.
I find when someone is asked about the Oilers, it is always responded by an excuse of why the suck.
You poined out a very interesting post on the Leafs drafting. They have the same issues. Not only them but if you look up Carolinas , CBJ Arizona , Winnipeg , Buffalo and more, they have lived in the basement close to a decade.
I don't see any of them moving into the top 10 in the next five years. |

I don't know how many times I have heard you build a team from the goalie out.
It makes a lot of sense when you look at development time- goalies and dmen often take longer to develop... |

Just got back from the movie theater, watched Jason Bourne, was alright but typical Bourne movie, now having a glass of Chilean red and catching up on life at HB with no hockey. |

Nashville are the best example of that but Christ did it take long. I still don't think they are there yet.
I think you have to pay attention to 23 spots. |

Yeah sorry no, I have a huge personal boundary and handshake distance is about as close as I want people and even then, that's still too close. |

Can I answer that?
Because they had all the same type of players, smallish skilled forwards, with no veteran presence, plus they didn't draft any defensemen. - LeftCoaster

Thought it was a great flick, but yeah, typical Bourne.
It was like constant action, people were almost always moving and when they were sitting at a table or something, they were talking about what they were planning to do... my wife said she was exhausted after watching it. |

No. But they did draft Luke Schenn. |

Yup .
I think Gardiner wishes he had a do over now, maybe then he would know what playoff hockey is. |

Toronto Drafted Gardiner? - VANTEL
No but they retained him to support their rebuild rather than moving him for an underwhelming return a year or two ago. I think they're handling their rebuild far better than the Oilers did by keeping JVR, Komarov, and Bozak around they've provided a solid support group for their forwards similar to what Edmonton did with Hemsky, Horcoff, and Penner. I don't think the Leafs' vets will have the same problems the Oilers' did (injury, age, and laziness respectively).
Andersen might shore up their goaltending, but it's not something I'd count on or mark as different from the Oil as they had Dubnyk.
As far as their drafting goes, their 2015 draft was stellar from a value perspective. This past draft they took a concerning lean into the size and grit categories (much like I saw from Edmonton when they wasted 2nd round picks on Musil and Moroz). Hopefully for their sake it's an anomaly as far as draft strategy.
They should probably have pursued another top-4 Dman this offseason, but having a legit top pairing guy in Rielly in place early on in their rebuild will undoubtedly be the big difference-maker. |

First off we were talking about team drafting
Secondly I don't really care for Gardiner Shultz or Vessey. I think they are all punks.
If I did like Gardiner or Schultz it would be for South of 2.5 mil.
