I just don't think much of Brown, Timashov, Kappanen, Leipsic, Harrington etc.

Don't think that those other 3 are elite either but they all had strong rookie seasons.

The downfall is there may be less $ to spend in other more important areas. this is a business and all businesses have budgets.

It will be interesting to see what Jarvis brings.

From what I understand he hasn't actually been behind the bench since his days as a head coach with Montreal's affiliate in the AHL. He has primarily been a video and eye in the sky coach I believe until last year when he was given PP duties for Boston, which clearly didn't go very well if he was let go.

As far as I'm aware he has never run the defense and that will still be Lidsters role.

he ran the defense in boston for years...including 2011. He later was put on special teams in the last 2 years or so. Bruins were mid pack on special teams under him.

Doug Houda ran the defense in Boston for the past 10 years and Cassidy was brought in to replace him.

Cassidy was clearly avoiding that subject on Wednesday, and instead will dutifully work with the defensemen as fired assistant coach Doug Houda had done for the last 10 years in Boston.

Sacco and Jarvis apparently worked together last year on the PP but I'm not sure where I read that or if Jarvis was actually on the bench. He was an eye in the sky coach throughout most if not all of his NHL career seem to remember reading.
