From CA,
"The Canucks are one injury away from being a 30th place team. And I mean 30th place team by a sizeable margin. There just isn't a lot of high-end talent on this roster. And the players that you might consider high-end are all on the wrong side of 30. This season could get ugly. Really, really ugly."

I was a little surprised to read this, I'm guessing we are battling for a wc spot unless we experience a bunch of injuries. - hillbillydeluxe

CA (NationNetwork)is okay except when it comes to Canuck content and the comments section. anyone can comment without registering and the Canuck hate is strong from the other team fanbases.
The articles have improved a bit but for the longest time it was as though the bloggers were trolling the fan base. hopefully the tone continues to improve.
I still think the defense is improved and the goal tending is okay (better than Edmonton, Calgary and Arizona and on par or not much worse than the rest). scoring is still the biggest concern. |

I break it down like this
Our goaltending tandem I would rank around 12- 17 in the league.
Our top 4 D around the same Edler Tanev Gudbrandson and Hutton 14-18
Our top line Sedins Eriksson around 15
Third line Bo Sven JV around 12-17
Second line of Sutter Hansen will have to wait for a rating until we make the trade, but again I think it will be middle of the pack
Fourth line needs work but most teams in the same boat.
So saying one person going down will put us in 30 th is stupid.
These prospect rankings are stupid. The media is filled with doom and gloom |

One thing I will say about prospect rankings is they aren't worth the paper they are written on.
Take for example no prospect ranking ever had Tryamkin and Hutton listed on top ten Canucks rankings.
Yet 5 Rd picks both playing in the NHL. Hutton in his rookie year asked to represent Team Canada.
They had Lockwood ranked about 163 in the draft yet Benning seen something and picked him 63? Then the report comes out he is similar to Hansen . I think Hansen was one of our best players last year.
When Guadreau was picked by Flames didn't everyone say
I think Abols will never be ranked and Canucks were high on him the previous year and drafted him this year. He will never be ranked top prospect but I have a feeling he will be an NHLer.
Of course Coyotes Leafs and Oilers have the best ranking. Living in the basement for a decade will do that. Do I envy them ? Not at all. |

Henrik was nowhere near 100% last season, I know we would miss him if he was out of the lineup, but I still can't see us at 30th unless there were more injuries...
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the writers on CA were fans of other teams. |

Losing Hank, Tanev/Gudbranson, and a goalie for the whole year might make us a 30th place team, but not 1 player. |

The bottom line is we are slightly better this year than last given our health and Eriksson. Does it make us a playoff team? In my opinion no, maybe if we played in the east. it makes us a bubble team at best. If I'm being honest I think the Oilers and the Flames (god I wish I didnt think so) have a better crack this year, just on talent alone.
There's really only one wildcard spot, I fully expect the central to be very similar and we are not better than any of those teams. The Wild were the weakest team to make the playoffs out west, IMO that's really saying something as they are a pretty good team.
I don't see us slipping to 30th, but I do see a lot of teams in our division/conference getting better faster than we can keep up with. Unless Mcdavid gets injured again, maybe Gaudreau as well. |

Yeah, that would do it. Throw in Edler or Tanev and it'd be a hell of a season. And that's not exactly an unrealistic scenario. |

A bubble team is a jump of more than 10 spots. I think that is a success.
I do think we will make the playoffs . It is only an opinion

The problem is that if things go well we are a bubble team. Wrong side of the bubble and it's kind of a lost season as we pick middle of the pack (most likely). At least the kids get another year of development. |
