Zaitsev is our best there, and he really has a good shot. Carrick isn't a true prospect, but projects okay. Dermott and Nielsen have good upside but lots of questions still. The rest are all unknowns.
For me, Philly is the team to beat on D prospect depth... - lumlums
Fixed
I agree with D prospect depth for Philly - Provorov, Morin and Sanheim - will all be good NHL D-men. Maybe its time to make a trade with them. We did ok with JVR. |

Amazing how finishing out of the playoffs for years makes the Leafs one of the best teams in terms of prospects. Don't get me wrong, Matthews, Marner and a few others are legit NHL players but if you get the first overall pick and don't appear in the "top prospects" list the following year, there's something seriously wrong. Unless of course you are the Edmonton Oilers and it takes 4 times getting the first overall pick and still managing to miss the playoffs.
Prospects aren't NHL players people. They are just that, PROSPECTS. |

um yes they do
kapanen, soshnikov, brown, rychel, zaitsez etc
the leafs do have huge holes in their pool tho (i am being fair and honest here)
down the middle (with the exception of matthews) and the goaltending is horrid. - Dozzer
Huh? Nylander, while we all know is a full time NHLer, will be a rookie this year. Down the middle the Leafs have absolutely no hole in prospects, or in the organization as a whole at all. Not anymore, no way. There is more than enough to trade Bozak. And once that happens, there is still Kadri as a young vet. Prospect wise, Auston Matthews, Nylander played centre last year, if we want him to he can. Then Marner is a natural centre. That's 3 high end centre prospects. More than enough for the top 6. They'll be forced to move a centre to wing, not forced to be searching for a centre.
The only hole is that there are no elite D prospects. |

I'm not sure what you're point is. THEY ARE JUST PROSPECTS.
I'm pretty sure the thread title is something about Leafs having top prospects. |

nylander is a winger as far as i am concerned for the time being
i am not saying the leafs arent in good shape... but to think their prospect pool is devoid of holes is foolish thinking.... and thankfully we have a management group that knows this... note how they drafted for size this past summer? they will keep tinkering and strengthening the pool so it becomes well balanced and deep in all areas. |

You have to upgrade the defensive part of that pool. Zaitsev might as well not even be included in the list of prospects as we all know he'll be in the top 6 and most likely 3-4. There's not much quality there. |

You mean like the Senators did in 1993 to 1996 getting three first overall picks and missing the playoffs?
1993 Alexandre Daigle Pure Sh!t
1995 Bryan Berard traded and career ended by dirty play by Hossa
1996 Chris Phillips Average 4-5 d-man
Honorable Mention number 2 overall - Yashin 1992 Underachieving overpaid bum
Can't wait to beat the sh!t out of the Sens again in the playoffs as we always do, however, Sens may be a while before they get there. For the Leafs the wait will be far less. Have a nice day and enjoy Eugene Smellsh!t and Tom Pyatt.

No prospect pool has no holes. I just disagree there is one at centre. Nylander has played centre all along. I'm inclined to call him a centre. Either him or marker will have to be moved to wing, but because we have too many centres, not too little. |
