Agreed. I'd love to see an Battle of Alberta series as well as an Oilers V Jets series seeing how the physicality between the two teams has balanced out a touch. A lot of exciting young talent on both teams, too.
As much as you guys might not feel it, I'd love to see Ottawa get new ownership that will be willing and able to spend the way a competitive team needs to. The Ontario rivalry is huge for the game. - MaximumBone
Oh yeah, Oilers, Jets and Flames could all be classic matchups in the near future.
I wouldn't mind better ownership for the Sens at all. Battle of Ontario is fantastic. Sens vs. Habs as well. |

Just thinking about the future of Canadian teams really gets me stoked. Obviously it's been said about the Oilers for years, but it's bound to happen eventually for them and getting McDavid changed the entire course of the franchise.
The Leafs seem to be taking a better and more structured approach to rebuilding than the Oilers (mainly having young D anchors like Rielly and Gardiner in place before grabbing forwards) and drafting for talent (at least in 2014, 2015) over size (saw more of that in 2016).
The Jets already have a strong team with veterans like Buff, Wheeler, Little, Enstrom, and Perreault to help lead an astounding core of young players ranging from Scheifele, Ehlers, Laine, and Connor up front to Trouba (might want out), Morrissey, Hellebuyck, and Comrie on the back line.
Much to my dismay, Calgary's management has been running the ship real well and the firing of Hartley only helps. They've got a strong top-3 D as well as a great core of top-6 guys (adding Tkatchuk really balances it out). If their young goalies can develop, they're set up for long term success thanks in large part to the way they've been drafting. Picks like Kylington, Andersson, and Mangiapane in 2015 and Fox, Dube, and Phillips this past year all coming out of later rounds is fantastic (assuming they can make the transition to pros). |

Precisely
I just don't see them as a threat in any way, shape, or form. Their offense is built around Horvat who likely tops out at 50-55 points, Virtanen who just doesn't impress me in any capacity, and Brock Boeser (arguably their biggest threat offensively). Aside from Juolevi, their D prospects don't do much for me and the fans are already pushing for Edler and Tanev to be moved. Tryamkin might be something, but he's far from a guarantee at anything. |

I would love to see a JVR+ for Hampus Lindholm from the ducks type trade…
What would it take? JVR + 2nd rounder + Peter Holland? |

I think you undervalue Lindholm here. I get JVR is a very good asset, but you're asking for their best Dman in a trade. Unless contract talks start becoming contentious, I don't see a world where they'd trade him. He's already at least a top-30 Dman in the league (I'd argue top-20 even) and he's only 22. |

Ya man. Oilers, Leafs, Flames and Winny all on the rise big time. Ottawa even has some nice young pieces but they will forever be irrelevant. With four teams poised for greatness the cup is bound to come back North of the border where it belongs. |

Leafs prospect pool is 1st now, but after this season with all our awesome rookies moving up to the NHL we will be back in the middle of the pack for prospects. But rising quickly to the top of the NHL standings. (frank) yeah! |

Yeah, some have better depth (Wpg have great all-round depth, Philly have possibly the best D prospects, Arizona has the best depth of forwards) but the Leafs have the best high-end forward talent of all prospects (I'm assuming that anybody who has been considered/qualified for the Calder to no longer be a prospect). |

Leafs forward prospects are great for high end talent and depth wise. Theres decent depth for dmen but no high end D prospects which is really lacking. Woll seems like a decent goalie prospect but the rest is very meh for goalies. Pronman does his top 100 tomorrow, here's my stab at his top 10 for fun:
1. Laine
2. Mathews
3. Marner
4. Puljujarvi
5.Nylander
6.Strome
7.Rantenen
8.Werenski
9.Keller

Didn't I just see Matthews get drafted at #1 a few months ago? Except for a few spatsos, he was the consensus #1 pick.
So without either of them playing 1 game, you decided Laine is better. A winger is better than a #1C?
Wow.
Edit: just saw you said Pronman's top 10....my bad unless this is yours too. |

Well this is my guess at Pronmans list and I know he is going to put Laine at 1 so I think Mathews is a better prospect, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few people out there that think Laine is a better prospect (Pronman) and I definitely wouldn't call them idiots and not take anything else they say serious after, I can see why some people might prefer Laine over Mathews. Aside from Laine over Mathews this is pretty much what I'd rank the top 10 but I kinda did it off the top my head. |
