Fascinating, he wouldn't have even been a top 10 pick this draft. Does Pronman actually have him ranked that high? I'd take his brother over him |

Gillies carried his team to an NCAA championship, was voted tourni MVP and has won two WJC-U20 golds.
Demko was in front of a loaded team and simply looks worse from the actual NCAA games I watched.
Just my opinion, but yeah I actually watch NCAA games regularly. - fry
Would you trade Gillies for Demko? |

I didn't say he was a fraud. I didn't say anything about his rankings. In fact I think they're very accurate. I think the Leafs have 3 of the top 7 prospects in hockey as he pointed out - walshyleafsfan
Who are the 3? I see 1 only |

I don't doubt you would.
Pronman does have him that highly yes. I don't know if you get to watch the OHL that often, but I'd be interested to learn why you would take Alex over William (pretend neither plays for Toronto) |

Depends on the status of his knee. Last season was a freak injury and his brother died in the same year.
If they were both leaving the NCAA at the same time I'd opt for Gillies. A trade right now would be in pretty poor taste given the year he's gone through. |

WRONG
gillies won a WjC Medal as a backup meaning he didn't play any games. And when he was the starter they came in 5th
demko on the other hand had better numbers at the WJC which were light years better then Gillies
And I love how you use the old "his team was stacked" excuse like Gillies single handedly won an NCAA championship. did he also score the goals
At every level Demko > Gillies |

Kapanen, Bracco, Dermott, Brown and Grundstrom also make the list.
I was surprised not to see Timashov there (Unfortunately Mike in Buffalo said the same). He had a very good season with Quebec/Shawinigan. 85 points in 57 games and the best player by far the few times I saw him live. |

I think his ranking is perfect
Led the AHL in PPG as a teenager, and has solid NHL numbers although it is only 22 games
Really solid prospect
I thought he should have been ranked 6th |

A bunch of East Coast boys sit around and decide who the best prospects are . Surprisingly half the list plays for the Leafs. |

Agreed. Especially with the amount of love ESPN constantly show the Leafs.
Always ranking them 122nd out of 122 organizations in their annual state of the franchises.

Are you really trying to suggest East Coast media doesn't play favourite to Toronto? Give me a break.
Why is Willie girl still considered a prospect . He has already played in the NHL.
There is no clear cut definition of what a prospect is. Everyone gives their own definition.
How do they rank them ? Do goalies and Dmen have a higher difficulty ranking , so therefore rated higher?
There really is no guild lines or equation and boils down to East Coast media picking Leaf prospects.
Just like this years last place team had the fourth best coach and 9 th best management.
Those lists are complete crap. |

You think a Boston based (nearly) company have complimentary feelings for Toronto?
Why would ESPN care about Toronto viewership? Can they even watch ESPN?
I think they just rank them who they think the best prospects are in order.
William is considered a prospect due to only playing 22 NHL games. Been that way for well as long as I can remember.
I do find it surprising the the Canucks are ranking very low across all facets of the organization across multiple media outlets. If it was just TSN, then fair enough, but they seem to be getting it from all over the place. |

Some on here aren't that high on Princess Willie and Michele Marner. Nothing personal. Matthews is still number two |

So what is the official magic number that a prospect is no longer considered a prospect? I have never seen that number have you? |
