No he wouldn't . And I am very serious.

He is an undersized , lazy one way player.

- VANTEL

Actually he's build up quite a bit. He's now actually heavier than the Sedins despite being a couple of inches shorter.

Long story short - he'll be fine out there.

A leafs fan said the same thing to me when we lost to the bruins in the final. Better to finish last than lose in the final.
- Scooby_Doo

He was wrong - better to go to the finals and lose. I was rooting for Vancouver, but they were manhandled in that series.

Would I consider Jake a prospect ? Not really , he has played a year, but at some point I may call him one seeing there is no real definition of what makes a player a prospect.

It's all subjective . Same as you saying Willie is a top 7 prospect.

Here is a list of players that haven't played in the NHL that I would prefer on my team over Nylander or Marmer. Not in any particular order.

Michael Dal Colle
Hayden Fluery
Travis Sanheim
Logan Brown
Pierre Luc Dubois
Laine Puljujarvi
Josh Ho Sang
Dylan Strome
Ivan Provorov
Brock Boeser
Mikhail Sergachev
Mathew Tkachuk
Ollie Juolevi
Nikita Tryamkin
Jakob Chychryn
Austen Mathews

Then I would start looking at Marmer or Willie.

So that list is just opinion.
If you asked 100 different people you would get 100 different answers
I am sure if you asked 20

this is a joke, correct?

I think we are debating whether or not they have the best prospect pool in the NHL.

I think it is one of the best (2nd), but not the best as Arizona takes that title

Just a thought. If you didn't bring up the leafs literally every day in this blog less people would probably show up.
- westcoastleaf

I didn't bring up the Leafs it was Walshy and his stupid comment that Leafs have 3 of the 7 best prospects.

By Redmiles definition a prospect is a person that can play for the Calder Cup .

Here is 7 players I would take before Marmer And Nylander

Connor McDavid
Patrick Laine
Jack Eichel
Noah Hanifin
Dylan Strome
Ivan Provorov
Mikael Sergachev.

That took two minutes to come up with that list.

Anyone saying Marmer or Wilma could knock someone off that list is nuts.

I haven't played regularly in a few years. Game times, distance to the rink, work and leaving town often on Thursdays doesn't add up. It's even more difficult these days.
- As_I_See_It

Ha. I'll never forget that first season I played with you guys and there were only a couple teams in the league and the guy left with all the money.
Great guys on the team, will always remember that team.

What was it like watching the leafs win those cups ?
- Redmile247

Sensational. Dave Keon and Frank Mahovlich were my favorites, Tim Horton and Baun were pretty good - the 67 cup was especially satisfying because the Leafs beat the Habs.

The bolded are not Calder eligible.

Laine for sure is above Marner/Nylander.

I'd personally put Marner above Strome based on the past season where Marner took all of the OHL/CHL awards, and his pro experience and success would put Nylander>Marner IMO.

Provorov and Sergachev are very good prospects. I wouldn't take either above Nylaner/Marner, but I can see an argument for why some would (Provorov>Sergachev also)

Did I really just read 8 (frank)ing pages of Leaf trolls/defenders/apologists/internet tough guys derailing the thread? I thought this was Carol's thread, not the unofficial 4th Leaf blog on the site. Did I read the wrong thread or something? Why are Leaf fans so hot to come here? Is being a perenial loser and amassing a whole lot of talent that's going to end up being crushed by the weight of attention and expectation in the Center of the Universe that great?

According to Pronman we have the 2nd best defensive prospect in the league.

Not sure I agree but hey. It is just Pronman's opinion

For sure. I'd put Provorov > Juolevi, and Juolevi > Sergachev. I'd potentially put Werenski at the top of the list though, he really had a strong showing this past season.

Yeah, I think that's a mistake on Redmile's part tbh.
