A bit soft and needs top 6 minutes to progress which he wasn't going to get in Van this season. Plus the vast majority of his AHL points were PP and his 5/5 play was a bit suspect. If the Flames can provide him top 6 minutes/linemates will be interesting to see how he turns out for you guys.
Granlund had better AHL numbers for the most part as had a bunch of NHL games under his belt and we were in dire need of a 4LC last year...so the trade made a bit of sense for both clubs...but many here were high on Shinks' upside which we were yet to see. - LordHumungous
I have no idea why people keep repeating this like it is a bad thing.....
All good scorers get points on the PP, it's their job and if they are not doing it, there is a problem. Shink actually produced pretty decent 5v5 as well. 11 of his 27 goals last year were on the PP, 16 were at even strength.

It was a while ago.....can't remember my reasoning for taking Carick... maybe he was the youngest of eligible players?
I think I protected Morgan, Gardner and Marincin, kadri, JVR, Bozak, Komorov, Rychel,Brown... somebody else I'm missing. - belcherbd
I was protecting Carrick over Marincin. What the team does will depend on how they both perform this season, I think.
Looking at the Canucks now - you're protecting 4 D? Makes sense. |

I doubt they'd protect Bozak, I could be wrong... - Garnie
I thought the same, but they might because he'd be worth at least something in a trade and there's not much else that'll need protecting. |

You think they protect, LAich, Lupul etc over him? IMO Bozak is pretty important to the leafs moving forward as I imagine they will need to shelter Mathews. |

Didn't someone on here post the other day that Kane said he didn't want to play in Vancouver and he didn't think much of the forwards we had?
If any of that is true, it seals the deal for me not wanting him here.
I want a player that wants to play here. a player that wants to come in and make an impact.
I hope for Kane's sake he gets to play for Vegas. someplace where he wants to be and he can sink or swim and run out of excuses. - hillbillydeluxe
Hadn't heard that. If true Kane can piss off. |

Seriously? Is he going to play on Calgary's top line or PP? No. Would he play on Vancouver's? No. If he can't generate 5V5 he won't stick |

No, I had the Canucks protecting Sedin, Sedin, Eriksson, Horvat, Sutter, Hansen, Baertschi, Edler, Tanev, Gudbranson.
The reason I have Rodin being selected is I figure with the Canucks luck he will have a pretty decent season only to lose him |

I can't remember who posted it.
I thought they said they spoke to Kane while he was training in Richmond.
Maybe he was just trying to be funny, knowing who he was talking to was a Canucks fan but for a guy with so much bs surrounding him lately, you'd expect him to tone down some of the attitude, even if he is just trying to be funny.

exactly. which is why the trade was perplexing from a canucks' point of view.
i don't see much impact from either. granlund will be a bottom 6 (most likely) if he is to stick. while shink will be top 6 if he sticks, it is less likely he will (due to how his game has progressed and the flames' talent in front of him). - RealityChecker
He'll at least get a shot this year, as far as the lineup looks going into the season. He has a couple more years to make it—so no rush. |

if i remember correctly, it was the first hand account from a friend so take it with a grain of salt.
i find it difficult to believe that a pro athlete would be so casual about running down another team (especially his hometown team) to a stranger in the social media age. but then again, if anyone lacks that type of judgment, e.kane would be at the top of that list.

He was playing on their top line last year when called up but I'm not sure about PP.
Regardless I don't think you are actually paying attention to what I'm saying.
The statement that Player A only scores on the PP is first of all incorrect because in this case he scored 60% of his goals at even strength.
Second of all the stating that a player isn't very good because they score too many of their points with the man advantage is also flawed because most good scorers do this....again it is their job and if they are not doing it.... they are failing.
Daniel Sedin scored 35% of his goals on the man advantage in his career.
OV scored 37% of his goals on the man advantage.

I thought it was a great opportunity, a fresh start, when he got traded to Buffalo.
maybe it isn't all his fault,
he is young kid with lots of money, don't know how much trouble I'd get into if I was in the same boat.
his future is up in the air until all the court stuff gets settled. and unless he was heavily discounted, I don't see JB taking that chance if at all. |

I think you are missing the point. People don't think he is skilled enough to play on an NHL PP so his 5 on 5 production is important. Also, he played on the Flames top line because they were trying to lose

I don't think he is as bad some make out. He was over hyped and was certainly helped by playing with Kessel but still does a lot of the little things well.
There are some teams who are going to have to lose some good players.
Tbay, Nash, Minny, St. Louis.
Like I said earlier though, there are going to be some players that are available cheap as teams would rather get something for that player rather than nothing. I hope Benning realizes this and ensures he has cap space to take advantage.
