I think you are missing the point. People don't think he is skilled enough to play on an NHL PP so his 5 on 5 production is important. Also, he played on the Flames top line because they were trying to lose - CanuckDon
I don't think he is as bad some make out. He was over hyped and was certainly helped by playing with Kessel but still does a lot of the little things well.
There are some teams who are going to have to lose some good players.
Tbay, Nash, Minny, St. Louis.
Like I said earlier though, there are going to be some players that are available cheap as teams would rather get something for that player rather than nothing. I hope Benning realizes this and ensures he has cap space to take advantage. - belcherbd
yes, hopefully the Leafs can scoop up a couple via trade...Bozak scores at a pretty good pace/game but the Leafs thread is full of guys who think he totally sucks...some even think he was sheltered when he played with Kessel even though he was trotted out for almost every short handed draw in his own end for years. He's played ok for a guy we got for free. IMO

Ok, that's fair and like I said earlier mgmt didn't think his scoring would translate but that is a different kettle of fish as trying to argue that PP scoring somehow makes you less valuable.
Again his 5v5 production was better than any other player on the team and was good so whats the point in trying to come up with narratives about how he only scores on the PP?

As far as why he was playing on the top line, it doesn't really matter because it lets the teams see what they have in him. Can't really same the same about Shink getting 5 minutes on the 4th line with Van?
Like you said yourself it was weird trade but likely won't have much impact.

Definitely, as much as hype as there is for College UFA's very few end up being as good as Bozak.
