Despite me being a Flames fan, the Hall-Larsson trade was one of few trades where I could say though they lost the trade, they left a better team.
Looking at the roster, assuming Talbot doesn't implode, and you aren't plagued by injuries, I can see the Oilers making the playoffs.
Same with the Flames obviously. It leaves a couple strong teams out. Kings and Ducks oddly enough I think won't make it, or Pacific take the wildcard and Kings make it. - BobHartley
When you trade a player like Hall you never win the trade. |

Larsson won't ever be as good as Hall but if Klefbom and Larsson can form a serviceable top pairing then it was worth it. |

Exactly, Hall got you nowhere....not saying it's his fault...but eventually you need to change the ingredients. I don't think anyone knows how good Larsson can be yet. |

Lucic - Maroon...I don't see the need for more....plus he's more of a meathead than a hockey player.
just my opinion of course

Meh Marron > Kassian
You guys will be tough at least, if playing all 3 big wingers. |

Kassian will primarily be a 4th line player |

I think Klefbom / Larsson could be a very good minutes eating top pairing and if that is the case it makes every d-man under them better.
We would then have a pairing like Davidson / Sekera playing second pairing minutes instead of first pairing minutes. Then we would have a third pairing of Nurse / Fayne playing where they should be playing instead of in the top four. |

I just noticed the Oilers website has listed current line combos
Klefbom / Larsson
Davidson / Sekera
Nurse / Fayne
Lucic / McDavid / Eberle
Maroon / Draisaitl / Yakupov
Pouliot / RNH / Kassian
Hendrick / Letestu / Pakarinen |

I think he will and he will take the Kassian spot on line three and Kassian will take the Pakarinen spot on line four.
Pouliot / RNH / Puljarvi would make a solid two way line. |

It was not one bad year. As he failed to reach 60 points in 3 of the last 4 seasons. - Vanillaface
Okay lets look at those seasons.
In the 2012/13 lockout season he played 44 games and scored 42 points, 21 goals and an equal # of assists. Stellar year no?
In 2013/14 he played 65 games and netted 26 goals and 13 assists for 39 points. Not a great year.
In 2014/15 he plays 79 games and explodes for 42 goals in addition to 27 assists for 69 points.
Last year he plays 60 games and scores 15 times and adds 21 assists for 36 points. poop year without question.
So the past four seasons Nash has had two awesome seasons and two of the iffy variety. While I think Nash is probably about to begin to trend down I wouldn't be ready to write him off just yet. |

I'm not entirely sold either but it does appear more complete/competitive on paper than any Oiler lineup I can recall in the last 7 years. |
