Always liked Gaustad. He was used wrong in Buffalo but was a really good 4th line center.

I liked Gaustad too. Though the price tag he signed for after he was traded was a lot higher than I would have wanted to pay him had he still been here. That was a very good trade for us.

I would have been okay with us signing him this year to replace Legwand. Instead we'll have Larsson who will do fine in that role.

It was a good deal and I'm glad we did it. I'm also glad he got to play on a pretty good Nashville team.

It's going to be just like last year. ROR will take all the important draws, Eichel will take the "easy" ones. Hopefully he improves his FO% from the 43% or whatever it was last year.

I'm guessing they want to ease off a little bit on ROR's TOI, maybe a minute or so a game, and Eichel probably gets those 2 extra shifts. Until Eichel is better defensively and on the draw ROR is 1C. Eichel is still 1aC, but there is a distinction.

This is something I take from my own experience and the change I noticed in ristos approach last year but part of me wonders if his over aggressiveness in the 2nd half is the result of him thinking he has to do both jobs on that pair if that makes any sense. Like when you don't trust someone to handle their end of things so you try and their work too. I felt like that was the case for most of the 2nd half of the season,

I personally think Eichel is going to be head and shoulders the best player on the team this year, and will be played as such.

It's hard to see that happening given the way Eichel has hit the gym this offseason, he seems to be taking his role as this teams future star seriously. I think with having the added size and strength, he'll be able to net at least 5 more goals this season just by crashing the net.
