His prior issues? Probably not. This time i would probably say yes, and he probably wasn't smoking it. He probably had edibles. When i lived in Cali, we went in to one of the shops just to check it out. It was insane, literally strands for everything. You start to realize and look at things differently when you see families in there for there children that have no other relief. These people who come up with these strands are geniuses, the things they have to go through and everything be 100% correct is unreal. And they are not doing it to get people high. They want to help people. I had no idea either that most of the medical stuff doesn't give you the high feeling until we went there and talked with people. It is very interesting.

It's pretty awesome they can do that, especially since you mention kids.

There have to be strains that let people get high though, otherwise why are so many people faking a need to have issues so they can get it legally at dispensaries? Separate issue, I know, so don't think I'm going back to thinking that all will get people high.

Medical marijuana to treat Crohn's disease is legal in NY. Medical marijuana is legal in 24 other states, and it is completely legal in 4 states.

i'm sure there are alternatives that are accepted by the league...not saying they would be better for him, but marijuana is banned by the nfl, no exceptions
- Michael Pachla

From what I've read, most of the alternative treatments are also banned substances (steroids). I do not know if the league allows medical exemptions for the alternative treatment options or if they are even effective treatments for him. So I'm not clear if he had a viable treatment option.

I'm with the others saying that the NFL is in the wrong here. The rules may be the rules, but they are broken if they result in denying someone a legitimate medical treatment for a legitimate and serious disease, especially when said treatment offers no performance enhancing benefits to the user.

Joe Buscaglia has a pretty interesting take on it at the moment.

Bills’ silence on Seantrel is deafening
- A feel-good story for offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson quickly disappeared once it was reported that he was facing a four-game suspension for usage of marijuana — in what the player’s agent told ESPN was used for medical purposes to treat his battle with Crohn’s disease. I’ve made my initial thoughts on it pretty well known, thinking this is just another tone deaf move by the NFL, especially considering some of their recent decisions over the past several years. More so than that, I found a specific angle of this to be pretty interesting: the Bills overall lack of response to the story in any capacity. When Rex Ryan was asked about it on Wednesday, he wouldn’t go anywhere near the discussion, offering up next to nothing as a response. Once again, when the suspension was announced, Rex Ryan said that he’d stand by the league’s statement — which in essence, was just making it known that Henderson was suspended — which is also an essential non-comment. Furthermore, in the team’s press release, the Bills didn’t offer a statement — even though they did so in both the case of Karlos Williams and Marcell Dareus. Even when asked about it by the media in both cases, Rex Ryan had more to say than what he offered up on the Henderson situation. The lack of comment, in this case, really feels as though its in silent support of their offensive tackle. Henderson’s agent went off on the NFL, and in my mind, rightfully so. However, as good as it would have been for the Bills to stand in support of Henderson with public comment, but they also have to play the game a little bit. A silent protest, or perhaps a protest behind closed doors, might do more for their cause than anything. So yes, while the Bills lack of comment initially seems odd, it certainly doesn’t seem that way when you weigh all the evidence.

Totally wrong. I forgot the player who said this, but it's been speculated that 85% of the league uses pot, a lot of them use it as a pain killer.

They drown them in pills, which are 800,000x more addicting, but won't soften up on pot use? It's a joke, and sorry to say, sort of a racial issue.

This is the part that really gets to me. Do the league officials have their head in the sand? Last time I checked, the country has a major opiod epidemic going on right now. And there's already been how many former athletes (across multiple leagues) who have suffered from addiction to these types of pills. The one that pops in my head first is Boogaard, and I get that he's not an NFL player, but you can't think the NFL isn't fully aware of what's going on.

EDIT: Case in point...

They do. They are more concerned with not having a thuggish image where players are allowed to smoke pot. Even for pain management.

The NFL is pretty cruel, and has a pretty dark history on medical issues

I'm thinking this Henderson thing could really end up being a catalyst to them being forced to change their stance in some regard. It's part of what Buscaglia touches on in regards to the Bills silence on the issue right now.

And if they do, just like anything, players will find a way to abuse it. However, abusing weed is way better than abusing pain killers or even alcohol.

Agreed. It's just sad that it has to come down to something like this in the first place. I love watching sports, but some of the enjoyment has been removed now that we keep hearing all these terrible stories about debilitating pain and all that just from playing for so many years.

We're not going to rush anything. We're going to go through the process and do our job. We're sure the prosecution will do their job. We've done this many times before, so we're just walking through the process. There'll be no rushing, there's no point to it.
- Paul Cambria

Maybe don't mention that you've done this many times, it looks bad for your client. It seems like you're talking about you and your client together doing this many times, not the way you probably meant it; cumulatively of all your clients.

Also, something they brought up on WGR that is actually plausible. He knew he'd get suspended, but he did it anyway because his quality of life is more important than 4 games. I'm not saying that's what he was thinking, but it does make a certain amount of sense.

Having said that, he should've fought tooth and nail, not drop his appeal before it even started. There's a reason, well one, anyway, that they don't try terrorists that often, they don't want to give them a bullhorn to spout their bullpoop. This way the real issue just gets swept under the rug instead of Henderson fighting it, getting it out there and putting pressure on the NFL to ease up on their woefully out of date rules.

His agent came out and said they would have lost regardless. He also said that Henderson isn't totally healthy and really football ready. So basically they are going to take the 4 game suspension and work out during those 4 weeks to get him into football shape. If he appealed he could play during the appeal and by the time there was a ruling he would still probably lose and lose out on quality football time if that makes sense.

Sit the 4 games he wasn't ready to play or appeal and play a game or two and be suspended weeks 2-6.

It's the calculated risk thing.

Just like what happened in the Carolina game last night. They weren't sure if the Broncos got the first down so they burned a timeout to look at it longer. They then challenged the play and won the review but if they would have just thrown the challenge flag right away they wouldn't have lost a timeout. Coaches these days are stupid.

You pretty much took the words out of my mouth. The only "drug" I've ever done is drink alcohol. Never had any want or need to try anything else. And most of the other things freak me out, but pot doesn't bother me. If someone tells me they smoke pot, I couldn't care less. Now if they tell me they have a coke addiction or anything like that, I steer as far clear as possible. That type of stuff makes me super uncomfortable.
- HonkFortheGoose

Alcohol is infinitely more dangerous than pot, but everybody drinks, so (frank) it. You can easily die from an accidental overdose from alcohol, it is almost physically impossible to OD from pot(there has never been a reported case, ever) if it's just pot and not dipped in/dusted with something.

That's the point. This way you don't get your message out there. Fighting a battle you know you're going to lose, but might have a chance a changing the course of the war is something worth doing. Short term thinking at its worst here.

Who said he wants to be an advocate?

He just wants to play football, he did the best thing for his career here. Sitting the 4 games now as opposed to later when he is in football shape.

If that's going to be the extent of ads on jerseys, I'm totally ok with it, you barely even know it's there. Now if they're on the front like the NBA is doing, that looks like poop, I wouldn't like that.
