You say that about me, and I guess your saying it about the entire group of people who are looking at hockey analyticaly because Gardiner being considered a top pairing dman is pretty much unanimous among those people.
- James_Tanner

Add in that most statisticians have said that the best coach is only worth 2 or 3 wins over the entire season, while the worst coach will cost you the same.

Twice in one day is pretty impressive for a guy who constantly rails against people for committing the fallacy of appealing to authority.

But your recurring hypocrisy isn't news to anyone at this point.

He is a top pairing Dmam on the Leafs. A team which finished dead last. I wonder how many good teams would have him as a top pairing guy.

Heck he has tons of speed, plays alot of minutes and the power play and almost doubled Polaks points total. That is impressive. I hope other GM's feel like you do as maybe we can trade him for to Anaheim for Lindhold or darn we should have sent him to Edmonton for Taylor Hall, Seth Jones at least.

Chicago needs an upgrade, so hopefully they might have a shot at the playoffs. Gardiner for Duncan Keith!

Tanner is immune from that fallacy. I'd like Tanner to produce one high level hockey authority, that concurs that Gardiner is a top pairing defenseman. One.

It will be hilarious when they finally backtrack and realize QOC is the most important ingredient...until then we have to listen to this bullpoop about Tanner Glass = Sid Crosby. Jake Gardiner gets buried on the bench every time a #1 line hits the ice....I wonder why.

that and the flaw of rel corsi using a limited comp set.

i expect the people who ignore the flaws in corsi rel stats will be dumbfounded when weber's hero chart looks more like pk's and pk's looks more like weber's this year.

When that trade was made I was thinking that it will be very interesting to see how each of their Hero charts change.

When you sensationalize every one of your opinions you set yourself up to become a raging hypocrite. I like to call it the James Tanner effect.

I need to correct you on one thing. What Tanner offers are not opinions. They're facts.

One thing to consider is that Subban's style of play, is tailor made for Laviolette's style. He is perfect to play in Laviolette's ultra aggressive press forecheck system.

i'm sure he'll do fine.

the fact they his biggest comparison points for rel stats will be jossi, ekholm, ellis etc. vs. markov, petry, emelin etc. will surely mean his corsi rel stats won't look as good; even though he could be doing better in system that is better for him.

a simple known flaw in corsi rel stats.

Brian Burke, but he also once said Dion Phaneuf was one of the 4 best defencemen in the league!

This is hilarious. You think the millions of people who know how to look at stats only look at one thing and make a declaration? Anyone who compares the numbers all the way across the board will realize that Subban is way, way better than Weber.

Jake was one of the whipping boys here when Burke was around...I doubt he called him elite.

Hmmm - 1st stat I see is goals - I don't see Subban with as good a shot or as accurate. He takes unnecessary risks and acts like a little spoiled child after any infraction he's called for. He may be better but it's marginally...id still take Weber and his walker over PK. One player doesn't make a team.

People just don't believe you when you try to tell them that Vermette is one of the worst players in the league. That's because he's not! 17 goals in less than 80 games on a crappy team. and one of the best face off guys in the NHL. Plus he won a cup less then two years ago. I know his advanced stats are bad. But goals still matter in hockey. I also think the Yotes defense has improved, with Goligoski. He fills a big hole on the blue line. Plus OEL! Stone and Murphy are good skaters who hit very hard. Third pairing is not so good. Really depends on Smith. He needs a good year.

Takes a whole team to win the cup. Sorry, how many goals did Quick score in their 2 cup runs?!! That's right, NONE!! Schneider is a far better goalie, just on a much worse TEAM, so that statement is so stupid my ears are still ringing...and I'm reading...
- Flamin_Irishmin

Hey! He was awesome in the playoffs like 6 years ago! That's gotta count for something!

And if we're going straight SV%, GAA, and W. It's Bishop all day, in every category. Schneider allowed one less goal, but he also played 3 less games.

It's horrendous. A bunch of us on the Sabres thread sent Ek a PM about how bad the ads are. And bupkis, as you'd imagine. I fell bad about it, they don't get the ad revenue when you use AdBlock, but until it gets fixed I'm going to continue to use it.
