Most of his goals were scored on the powerplay - because the Yotes were bad and he got a ridiculous amount of PP time, which he'll never get again.
At 5v5 he was horrendous defensively, slow, and constantly outshot. He scored something like 12 5v5 points all year, most of them being secondary assists.
Faceoffs have no value and being good at faceoffs is about as useful for helping your team win as being good at pogs.
If a player's advanced stats are not good, he is not good. End of story. - James_Tanner
is the flip side if they are good he is a good player?
Forest Gump is a move where the over-arching message is that you should go along to get along, and that happiness is a matter of providence.
It is truly THE movie of all time for the culture that spends over a billion dollars annually on self help books. I.E easy answers.
Whether it's Jenny, Lt. Dan or whoever, in that movie, anyone who attempts to try and change things is killed or maimed. Who is rewarded? The guy who never rocks the boat - he does nothing but go along with whatever and is handsomely rewarded.
It is truly an entertaining movie, but it's pap and sentimentality and the message it sends about conformity is, frankly, disgusting.
When someone tells me that their favorite movie is Forrest Gump or Shawshank, I know we have a seriously huge Meghan Trainor fan on our hands!!!

Lt. Dan wanted to keep things the same by dying in battle like certain members of his family. Forrest changed his life by saving him...

You are a jaded, sad individual. I truly feel sorry for all of the hate that you have in your life. I really do. I really think that you need help. I really do mean that.
All kidding on analytics vs. traditional stats aside, you are one of the most angst-filled individuals I've ever read, to the point of you acting like an adolescent kid who feels like the world is against him. I truly hope that one day you can learn to expose yourself to things without giving the effort to find why they are terrible and can just simply enjoy things for what they are. Life is too short to just hate everything.
Edit: This is based exclusively on your blog on this site, which I know could all be a sham, as I don't know you in real life.

This is the - hands down - funniest comment I've ever received, here or anywhere.
You seem to be equating my hatred of the awful movie Forrest Gump with having real life problems? This is hilarious. I would think you should probably stop trying to psychoanalyze people on the internet, it has the effect of making you seem crazy. God gawd, is this a real post?

No, Forrest Gump was just an example. You seem to find a way to find issues with anything that's popular, and only like the cool, less-mainstream music and movies. It's like, if something's popular, you're too cool to be part of it, and will find some reason why it sucks.
I'm not saying this to be an ass. But really, I don't get why anyone would go through life trying to find things to be angry about. But h1ey to each their own.
Edit: Not trying to analyze you, but just seeing how you act of your blogs (again, I said I didn't know you in real life), you seem like one of those people who's only happy when they have something to complain about (we have a lot of them here, they're called Eagles fan).
If this is simply a persona that you use to create hits/replies, then never mind, you're just being a jackass.
Hmmmm, there is a scenario by which the Blackhawks could miss the playoffs.
They have one scoring line at the moment and less forward depth than they did last year, where they were kinda middling at best 5-on-5, barring some outside or unforeseen solution.
I still expect Bowman to acquire a decent LW to play with Toews, likely through a trade package starting (but not ending) with Trevor van Riemsdyk.

I liked Forrest Gump, and Shawshank Redemption is in my top 2 or 3 faves of all time.
Then again, I would also throw one in Meghan Trainor, given the chance.

I never made the connection before, but you just brought it to mind with these comments. Tanner is like a real-life Holden Caulfield. God, I couldn't stand that character! Everyone else was always the problem.

D should be better.
But still, the West is very competitive 1-10. - John Jaeckel
The west is crazy. There are Vancouver and AZ and after that every team has a decent chance to make it. San Jose should be the best team, but they're old, so they could suddenly drop off. Nashville needs a goalie.
I don't think theres a single team you could call a lock - maybe St. Louis.

Oh gawd - Tannsy is gonna LOVE the comparison to Holden Caulfield. It'll give him an opportunity to remind us all how educated and well-read he is....
I wish Cloutier would come back. At least he wasn't so full of himself

Dude, my favorite band is REM and my favorite movie is Back to the Future. I ain't no hipster - those are two cultural touchstones. I also write about sports and drive a frigging Ford Fusion!
I only hate things that suck, like Forest Gump and the Foo Fighters, plus I kinda sorta get paid for my opinion, so that's what I do!

Isn't that the point of a movie? Especially that kind of movie? Not everything has to be hard-hitting and provocative, sometimes people just want a light-ish story and to be entertained. The real world is poopty enough. Movies, sports, hookers and blow, knitting, whatever. People are just looking for an escape. Just like every Stanley Cup Playoff/Final commercial is 80% nostalgia and 20% sentimentality. And few things light up the pleasure centers of our brains better than nostalgia and sentimentality. And yes, I realize nostalgia and sentimental can mean the same thing, but not everything sentimental is nostalgic.
That said I thought it was an ok movie, but nothing ground breaking. But you'll never take Shawshank away from me, but I think if Morgan Freeman wasn't the narrator it wouldn't be half as good.
