Not sure I'm loving where Ullmark is going to pan out in the NHL. It's still early in his career, but I'm not as confident as I used to be on him. Still like Petersen a real lot, but I definitely would like to see us use one of those two 2nd round picks we have in this years draft to take a top goalie prospect off the board.

I watched the hi-light package and I thought Ulmark looked really bad. On one of the goals, he did that lunging thing that he is prone to doing. Somebody needs to tell him to stop doing that. Having said all of the above, it's only a prospects game. No need to jump from the Peace Arch yet....

Ullmark was a disappointment for sure but I don't think he had a ton of help. Osmanski and Martin were bad.

I say play Nylander and Bailey together tomorrow. Dump and chase and let Bailey dig out pucks for Nylander.

Agreed. I think Ullmark will be fine. I'm just not sure, IMO, where he'll top out at anymore. Some have said in the past that, he had the potential of being the next Pekka Reinne, now that may be an extreme comparison, but NHL starter was a realistic one. I just see his growth seeming slow a bit, I could definitely be wrong though, and I usually am. I guess we'll just have to see how he handles a full year in Rochester as the starter.

As for our other goalies in the system, I'm not sure what to expect from them. They really don't have a body of work to go off of, but Johanson seemed average for what I've seen so far, and real weak on the glove side. And, Kasdorf look downright awful.

I agree, Ullmark could have had better defensive help, and I really figured he was going to put to the test when I saw the lineup on defense. But, I guess, I kind of expected him to bale out the defense a bit more, making a few awesome saves to keep them in the game. I really didn't see that though.

As for the dump and chase, it may be effective, but I honestly hate the idea of that. The dump and chase has been the Sabres M.O. for 44 of 46 years and I don't want to see it anymore. It's time to see skill. Yes, the skill we've recently drafted is up with the parent club, but still, I would like to see Nylander, Fashing, Rodriguez, and Bailey be able to carry the puck into the zone, they should be good enough to do that.

It's probably too early to judge on Ullmark but he could have stood out better last night and he just didn't.

I wouldn't mind the dump and chase just to establish the forecheck in the corners for the next prospects game, not for the regular season. Nylander is with Fasching and Baptiste and Bailey is with Carrier and Lane at practice this morning.

He's from Rochester, 5'10" 175 played last 4 years at Boston University, he had 28 points in 39 games last year. I don't think he's been signed.

Another B.U. kid, another college kid for that matter. It seems like Murray leans towards finding unsigned players in the college ranks as opposed to overseas. I hope he's not overlooking potential players in other markets.

Also have to take into account the appeal factor. Lane is from the states and even better from rochester. Guys playing overseas may not be as interested.
