Ya, I agree with that. Kane hasn't done much in this tourney as well. Coughed up the puck for a 2 on no one break away, that was nice..
- bixll

Agreed. Imo not enough skill to worry on other lines, load up on Kane and make him disappear. He can't do it all on his own.

Was watching ESPN coverage of NA-FIN last night.

Brett Hull said he came up with a new nickname for Jack Eichel.... Jackal...

Is Brett Hull really Garth?

Hossa and Kopitar are both better all-round players than anyone on team USA.

James Tanner.

- bixll

"all-round" I guess is the point here. He is not far from wrong, but I don't think that really means much.

I think they can only meet in the finals. But ya, what a game it may be.

Mornin.

Good morning all.

My take from last nights game is, we should be pretty excited for Morgan Rielly. He was the best D on the ice for either team. More to it than being on the scoresheet, he skated or cleared the puck out of danger all night long. Poise.

We have been for like 5 years...

Crazy that some fans still say he's not a #1 yet...

No question he is a number 1.

Zaitsev has been very impressive as well.

Can't wait to see what Zaits can do.. He looks like Russia's best dman. Excellent skater and very aware and well positioned.

He's not infallible, but he's as good as anyone else out there not named Doughty, Letang, OEL, Hedman, Weber....

I can see why the Russian coach plays him all the time, watching Markov and Emelin being skated circles around, he is their most trusted D.

Zaitsev did look good out there, he might very well end up being paired with Rielly this year.

But the main man in Russia is still Andrei Markov (which isn't a good news for them because the guy is already 37 years old....).

At least until Sergachev becomes their obvious best defenseman.

I like Markov but that pairing has been brutal. They can't keep up to the pace.

He wont be able to keep up to the pace of the Leafs either

There just isnt any room for 37 year old has-beens in the NHL anymore.

He's a real good prospect.

As for Leafs, I'm happy with Dermott and Nielsen, they were great in the Rookie tourney.

Hey I think he's going to be great....maybe this tourney gives him even more confidence....but he certainly wasn't an elite #1 defender last year....but he's the Leafs best D by miles.

“There’s no ‘Let’s babysit him.’ Let him play. He’s got all the skills and he’s playing the right way.”

He started out as the 13h forward and moved up to the top line. And he more than looked like he belonged. Wonder how it goes in the leafs camp. How long till he's not playing 3rd line protects mins behind bozak?

- burn

Just like I said. I said he was gonna do the same poop as at the WHC, start as an extra and work up to the 1st line.

It will be 20 games
