So as we all heard a few weeks ago that we were in on Nichushkin, with the latest that he does not want to play for Lindy Ruff and might sign in KHL, would you try to take a flier on him? Cant imagine we would pay much , knowing the Stars dont have much leverage.
If we fail because Kane couldn't stay healthy, or out of the news, or Lehner falls on his face (I don't think that's likely) or Okposo fails, or the blue line is a mess, it's on Murray.
If our superstar gets hurt, or our #1D, that's a valid excuse - sbroads24
i think we still need another lhd, i would be happy with getting another 3/4 talent and seeing which one plays best. problem is, the asking price for these guys is coocoo bananapants.

I'd love to somehow pry Hjalmarsson out of Chicago. I love the game he plays. I can't begin to fathom what the asking price would be for him though.
He's going into his fourth year. Is that considered a veteran as well?
He needs to do more this year. It's as simple as that. Was his play not up to expectations last year? Yes. Was he downright awful? No. - HonkFortheGoose
his offensive production was downright awful, his defensive play was as good as any other sabre, maybe the best on the team

their need is 3rd liners, and fill up the prospect pool

He needs to be better. That's for sure. And nobody is putting more pressure on him to be better than he is putting on himself. He was so upset at how the season went for him at the end of the year. He said he knows he needs to be better. Hopefully we see him take that next step this year. He's capable of it. It's just a matter of finding his niche.
Would be nice if Bylsma wasn't a mad scientist with the lines every night though too. A bit of consistency could help.

that's just it, with larsson and girgens, dan needs to figure out their spot and stick with it
if girgens is a winger, keep him there for a big stretch
do you put girgens on second line wing, 3rd line center or 3rd line wing
do you put larsson as 4th line center, 3rd line center, 3rd line wing
I think a combo of larsson, girgens and gionta would make a great 3rd line
I also think a focused girgens as a wing on the second line brings a lot to the team

Girgensons down year is something to be concerned with, especially going into a contract year, but I would not say it is over for him.
He thrived on the dump and chase game, as well as the amount of ice time he had (last year around 15 mins per game, years before more like 20 mins per game), so the concerns with him are if he can play a system.
As a strong penalty killer and better than average 3rd line center, I would like him to stick around for a while, unless he can be packaged with something to get a true top 6 forward or top 2 d-man.
I can see him being wanted across the league, but what is his value and are we will to accept that value. - Lilroot9
He's a young guy playing on a 1 mil contract. I think a lot if us just over rated him 2 years ago

The consistency with the lines will help, but Girgs being accountable for a lack luster season may be the more significant driver when it comes to results. Good to see out of a young kid.
Ryan addressed an NFL Network report Sunday that owners Terry and Kim Pegula met with offensive players Friday (without Ryan present) to gauge what needed to be done with Roman.
"That happens all the time," Ryan said. "I feel fortunate that our owners -- I mean, they talk to our players, they talk to everybody. I can tell you this: I'm in full support of our owners. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter, does it? They own the football team. They don't have to get permission to talk to anybody, myself included. I have no problem with it whatsoever. In fact, I think it's a real positive thing for us."
