I am afraid that he is a floater. Does not seem interested at all this whole tournament.
Maybe he thinks his skill can over compensate for his effort.
IMHO.... - rmiethaner
I've never really noticed before but you.may be right?
Not that he could've done anything on the Russian's 4th goal, but he wasn't exactly rushing back |

I don't want to rag on the guy. He's going to put up a ton of points and help this team win far more games than they lose, but I really started becoming "McDavid or bust" in 2015 since the World Juniors of that season, when it was Dylan Larkin that was Team USA's best player. When Canada and Russia started game planning for Eichel, he disappeared. |

Seen a ton of hustle out there from him too. like on that play to recover the puck on the pp. He's fine. |

Matthews show effort every shift. And it is noticeable.
He has been better than Eichel this tournament which concerns me.
Now, Eichel was successful during an NHL season, so I have that going for me... |

I know he kind of deserves it, but the way Pavel Datsyuk always gets the benefit of the doubt is comical. |

The Russians are extremely difficult to root for anyway, but I find it impossible after they ran their mouths after their 3rd goal.
I hope they get smoked in the 3rd period. |

You're seriously afraid of something about a star player who jas yet to even turn 20?
Why worry? Just enjoy watching his talent and ability. |

For sure. The thing is you can be a star in the league by just being an offensive guy. The idea of 200 foot players gets overblown a bit I think. You need a few obviously, but you can afford players who don't have too much interest on playing on the defensive side. I'd take Tavares, Seguin, Tarasenko, Stamkos on my team any day of the week.
Leafs really needed a 200 foot player (been over a decade since they had one). For the Leafs they needed Matthews more than Laine |

Eichel is on the 2nd line.
Former #1 overall picks Nathan Mackinnon and RNH, along with former 8th overall pick Sean Couterier, and 30 goal scoring Brandon Saad are on lines below him.

But then he does what he did on that PP where he flew across the ice to take the puck away and keep it in.

I am not blue collar.
I hate "defense wins championships". I want to spread them out and throw the ball to score as much as they can. I want to roll three lines and score as much as they can. |

This is a great game for a non fan to watch and become a fan. Unfortunately since its not the olympics and its on ESPN none of that untapped market will actually watch. |
