Man what a great game. Bob stood on his head. Ghost with a glorious chance to tie in the final seconds hits the post for like the 10th time. Jeez.
Edit: Not 10th time in this game - 10th time including all of the preliminary games but it's actually closer to like 4 or 5 but damn! |

Even in losing im impressed with this NA team. They completely dominated the Russians that last period.

The difference was goaltending. Matt Murray got molten lava hot in the Spring and won the Stanley cup (he's even eligible to win the Calder this year)but he had a bad game. |

That was a beauty of a shot! How amazing would that have been...looks like Ekblads out with a concussion so Ghost should get a lot of ice time. Is it me or does Courturier miss the net a lot? |

It's not you. I've been watching all of the games - prelims included. Couturier has had some solid chances. At least 3 from all of the games (1 tonight) where he could have definitely scored. His try tonight was high and wide. He's being used as a shutdown center, penalty killer and defense 1st player so that might contribute to him being 'off' a bit when suddenly he's in an offensive situation. His line last night was very impressive against Finland I thought. |

AMEN.
Listen to the man. He gets it. Been into the hype for too long. Lets see the big picture and suck it up for a year or 2 and enjoy success instead of regret - that's great for commercial sports writers but sucks for real fans.... |

I'm really curious how Ghost is going to play this year, his 2nd season in the NHL, where he won't catch opposing teams by surprise with his speed, moves, and shot. This upcoming season will be more important than last for knowing how good he really is at the NHL level, imo. - wolfhounds
Last year, teams were able to cheat on the PP to take away the lane between Giroux and Ghost. If Voracek can become a shooting threat on the opposite wall, teams won't be able to cheat as much, which will help. |

he's not going to suddenly stop making plays. it may be harder for him to do that from time to time, though. the play where he reached back, knocked the puck down then flipped it to G for the OT winner vs. winnipeg is an example. that ability is just part of his game, which stems from the effort to actually make the play to begin with. he's just a dynamic player. i think where he may have to become quicker is when he adjusts his body at the offensive line, trying to create shooting and passing lanes. that's an area where i think his game there is not a secret, so he'll get pressured more and more quickly. i still expect he'll make poop happen.
i for one, can't wait. my only real worry isn't the proverbial young player wall, but his capacity to take punishment. i fear he's going to get hurt on practically every shift. - hammarby31
These plays you mention are a rare thing. I think that diving play comes from trying to make an impression and keep a job. Not saying NHL players are lazy but I think those kinds of plays fade. |
