Placed 4th in the World Juniors last year. They have the best team here but it's not like the US and Basketball - sbroads24
Actually, the US got better challenges in the Round Robin of the Olympics than Canada has versus the Czechs or the US in the World Cup. The Australians had the lead in the 4th quarter, and the games against Serbia and France were one possession games. They also only beat Spain by 6 in the semis. The gap in international basketball is a lot smaller.
Yeah, except those guys were actually paid by the IIHF to be the commentators. the "WOO!" is just magnificent. It's like that guy who was at the BBC for an unrelated job interview and they thought he was on-air talent and they brought him out and put him on the air and started asking him questions. Where it's like 2 drunk fans stumbled into the booth and just rolled with it.

Boy did that make me laugh.
I'm mesmerized. - Der Kaiser
The first time I heard it was on WGR(the Ennis call with the woo! And the Segween one), and I had no idea what it was from, thank God for Google. I watch it every couple of weeks and it never fails to make me laugh. There are a couple of other ones. They're on the IIHF's YouTube page under the 2015 WC's. I think there are 3 or 4 total.
Ek's obsession with Matthews is bordering in creepy.. - feetontheair22
I always knew he was a nerd, but seeing him on that podcast sitting next to that Jillian woman Gerbe was stalking just made it so much more clear. Although he did have a good idea and panned the camera over so it just showed her, alas, he panned it back...

I'm all for criticizing management for bad decisions, but we at least should be fair.
Canada left off guys like Subban and Hall
Sweden left off Hedman from the Olympic team
USA left off Kessel, Yandle, Ryan etc.
They all make bad decisions. - sbroads24
Sweden still got to the gold medal game in 2014. Canada is still going to waltz through to the Finals and probably win it in 2. They made these supposed "bad decisions" in positions they were already absurdly deep in. Canada and Sweden could probably have the 3rd and 4th best defense corps in this tournament made up of guys they left off their teams. The US made them where they were already thin as it was, particularly up front. There is not one player for either Sweden or Canada that you could honestly say "that guy has no business on an International team". There are were at least 4 or 5 on Team USA, plus a coach.

I'm sorry, but choosing Jay Boumeester over PK Subban or Henrik Tallinder over Victor Hedman is just as egregious as Justin Abdelkader over Phil Kessel.
Let's not forget about Canada adding Chris Kunitz over maybe 10 players better than him.
A bad choice is a bad choice. Acting as if it's only the US who does it is just plain false.

It isn't as egregious when you are deep enough at those positions to the point it doesn't matter.
Jay Bouwmeester is talented enough to play on Canada's roster, or anybody's roster for that matter. Kunitz is talented enough to play on Canada's roster. Kessel is talented enough to play on the US roster. Tallinder at least was talented enough at one point. Justin Abdelkader never was, and never will be, not if the US wants the rest of the hockey world to take it seriously anyway.

They're like the Russians, who purposely leave NHLers off just so they can put KHLers on their roster.

It absolutely is. And when the Sabres are good, you will be the first to criticize a bad decision. As will I.
Justin Abdelkader is basically Chris Kuntiz.
Jay Boumeester might not be in the top 20 for Canadian D men.
Henrik Tallinder couldn't hold Hedman's jock.
They all do it. And when the gap between Canada, Sweden, and the US closes, which is inevitable based on what the WJC results have been (Those are the teams future players) we will realize that most team selections have head scratching decisions
