Personal opinion...he's trying to take D-Lo's job. Gotta prove you can throw mitts to do that I suppose.

Good. Let's see if he can. Competition brings out the best. I was excited when we got Carrier. He seems like a late bloomer but if he can produce, in any facet, I'll be thrilled.

I'm not suggesting Emelin deserves a suspension, I agree was a clean hit. I just find it cowardly that most of the "big hits" I see out of him are on defenseless players...particularly those who aren't of legal age to drink yet.

Edit: Kulikov is a bit of a dirty player too, maybe I should shut up.

I suppose. For me a hit is a hit is a hit. When I played I sure would hit the kids who were younger than me. Doesn't mean I'd shy away from the ones my age or that were older/bigger than me, but if I saw some 14-15 year old with his head down you can bet 17 year old me was licking my chops to lay him out.

That said, I was an ass. But it was definitely fun.

One time I did it to a kid who was much smaller than me, I'm 6'2" and he was maybe 5'. He saw me coming as I got there and just got as low as he possibly could. Hit me right in the knees and thighs and I flipped right over him. Good times.

In general the game last night was pretty chippy for the first 2 periods. I'm not sure if the refs talked to the coaches at some point or if everyone finally just settled down, but there was a lot extracurricular pushing and shoving after each whistle last night.

Less about the hit, more about the tendency to hit young players. I get it that you don't shy away from a kid, but I don't respect head hunting for them. Full disclosure I'm a goalie, so I don't know what I'm talking about anyways.

Please swap Vatanen for Risto on that top PP

Edit: like right there, he was 10x more effective in the first 3 seconds

Anyone concerned with Eichel this summer? Word was he floated quite a bit in summer league (understandable), but he's definitely not played his best through 2 games of World Cup hockey. I hope he comes out with an edge against Sweden. Would love to see him throw the body more and really up the intensity. Part of me thinks he's trying to save himself for the season, but at the same time I'd love to see him make his presence felt in this tournament.

It was definitely a legal hit, although a bit high for my liking. Legal doesn't always mean clean.

Not directed solely at you, and rather, to all who have wrung their hands about a Floating Eichel.

Exactly, legal doesn't mean it was clean, well worded. I'd push it further and say legal doesn't mean there wasn't intent to injure. I'm gonna get down from the soap box shortly, I just don't like the guy...never have.

Exactly, he's playing for team NA. He's not even representing the US. He has one more goal the Mcdavid. BTW, F##K Mcdavid.

Equally not pointed solely at you.
But Eh. There is something to it when multiple people see the same thing.
To blow it off as nothing and dismiss those who express them thought isn't quite right either.

I believe he will be fine, and love watching him...part of my competitive nature is wanting for my team to be the best and recognized for it. When others seem to have an extra "gear" in their drive...it makes me want my guy to go harder as a way to "show them" type of thing.

If he saves it for the Sabres, I'm ok...but it does cause a pause.
