It's funny, because I remember them saying that he was a bit of project when he was drafted. I liked the pick and I think he's really developed nicely. It says a lot about the guy when other teams ask for him in trade deals.
Good to see a "local" kid doing well too. - HonkFortheGoose
Yea Murray likes him a lot, one of the reasons he keeps telling teams no. |

Good. We can't afford to move any more young guys at this point. Just watching the Prospect game the other day was a nice reminder that we need to start rebuilding the farm team.
I'm not going to say the cupboards are bare yet, but they're not exactly full either. |

foligno
gionta
moulson
that leaves 2 or 3 spots
deslaurers
nylander
bailey

I would go as far as saying Delorian is a lock on the Sabres roster....either as a 4th liner or as a healthy scratch who gets inserted when guys are under-performing/being lazy |

He struggled a bit last year. He needs to get back to playing his game or he's going to lose his spot to someone else. If he's not out there causing disruptions, his contributions aren't really worth having in the lineup. |

Completely agree. I know that our 1st rounders the past few years are with the Sabres, and that leaves outside of Nylander only players drafted in rounds 2-7 for are system, but still, it's been 4-5 years since Pagula said there would be no spending limit on scouting, and it's been 3 drafts for Murray. We have sent a lot of youth packing to get guys like RoR and Kane, and that hurts a bit. But, we should still be seeing a some good results at this point of the guys we've kept. Bailey looks good and on track, and hopefully Bap, Guhle, and Fashing also progress. But, we still have Cornel, Carrier, Karbacek, and Hurley, who are all 2nd rounders and need to show something this year. I would really love to see our past three drafts produce at least one Johnny Gaudreau for us, and for some reason I keep thinking Esteban will the guy who does that. |

But do u think Bailey would actually play on the 3rd line ahead of Gionta?
Even though he's probably better at this point,
I'm thinking Gionta would get the nod as a vet
Seems to me that Bailey should start in Rochester, play on the top line & continue to develop his skills.
He'd likely be the 1st call up, so he'll still get a decent amount of NHL time
Then next year he can make the team full time
Nylander also
Let them play the wings on the 3rd line to ease them in a bit
They can take the place of Gionta and (hopefully) Moulson |

I'm not too worried about our prospect pool
I know it seems kinda bare, but think about how many roster spots we'll actually need to fill in the next couple years...
We have so many young guys on the roster,
We'll only need a couple guys to step up

Think of it this way. The prospects we drafted are on the team or really close. Not taking 5 years too develop so it might be better than most think. |

That's the exact reason I'm not panicking about it. But I don't think we can afford to keep moving guys out at this point either.
I think my main concern is that at some point, we may very well be in the boat that Chicago is in and will need that depth to fill out our roster, because I don't feasibly see how they're going to be able to afford everyone. |

I think we would be better served with Bailey in the lineup on the third line with Gionta on the 4th but Bylsma wouldn't do it. Based on the production they got from the Foligno-Larsson-Gionta line at the end of the year, they should really keep it together as the 4th line |

Not gonna lie....i forgot Larsson existed until just now..
I agree....that should be the 4th line;
EDIT: with COR and Dlo riding bench |

Oh good god this is getting comical.
2016 1st overall pick - USA
2015 2nd overall pick - USA
2015 5th overall pick, 1st defensemen taken - USA
2015-16 NHL top scorers
4 of the top 8 are USA players.
Yes, they are dying. It's getting worse.
Funny thing is, I don't even care if they do well. I'm rooting for NA |

The article doesn't suggest USA hockey, as a sport, is on life support. It say USA HOCKEY, as an organization, is on life support. And the reason it says so is the same things we have been female doging about in these threads:
USA Hockey has been exposed as a behind-the-times, knuckle-dragging, out-of-touch entity in desperate need of an organizational philosophy shift out of 1996 to 2016, because the assembling and usage of this current roster is nothing short of shameful
The article isn't saying there is no American talent. It's saying the governing organization didn't pick it. |

If USA hockey has any balls they will demand the dissolution of Team NA before the next World Cup |
