I'm saying that he's a nasty little son of a female dog who has no problem with physicality and he's probably at his optimal weight already. Anything more than 185-190 is too much on his frame. I'm saying that he probably could work on other areas of his game, there's a ton of players already in the pros competing for few spots, and Hextall has shown a high degree of patience.
What I'm really saying is that I think he could be on the team no problem. Robby Fabbri is a similar player to Konecny and look what he did as a complimentary player on the Blues last year at the same age. I think if Konecny continually looks like he's on another level, that he could. But I understand if he's not. But it's not because he needs to balloon up to 230 lbs first. - Mononoke
Did someone say something about Konecny's size or weight?
To say Konecny has no problem with the physical side of the game isn't entirely true. It is believed that he dropped in the draft because he's prone to injury. The AHL is another level of hockey, a step up from junior. I still believe JvR and Couturier should have saw time there. Not only to avoid and brace ones self from injury but to work on their skill sets further. Helping a young player avoid injury is only protecting the team's investment.
If a player is ready, they play. The AHL is also pro hockey.
"If it comes to 100% skill, they win. 100% grit, we win." —T.J. Oshie
I love this quote. Like Team Canada -- with Weber, Doughty, Burns, Getzlaf, Perry, O'Reilly, Giroux, Tavares, Crosby, Marchand, Bergeron, Thornton, Toews -- is a bunch of soft pansies who will run crying from The Big Bad Red, White, and Blue. - Mononoke
He's just echoing the mindset of the GM who put the team together and likely what they've been preached to as the game plan. Big mistake not adding more skill to the team.
I've always have been against Konecny making the team this coming camp and firmly believe he should see some AHL seasoning when the time comes but for those who disagree, these people may have a case. Matt Read is getting stale. Cousins and Laughton in my opinion are two very underwhelming players that Konecny could prove he's more ready then. My concern is whether or not Travis Konecny can with stand the NHL's physical game and stay healthy. - SuperSchennBros
I think Laughton makes a significant leap in level of play this season.

Getting a bum shoulder has nothing to do with a problem with physicality. It's an injury -- no more, no less. Since Morin had to get the same surgery as Ghost and Giroux this offseason, clearly he has a problem with physicality because...logic

It isn't one injury. As you just ignored (surprise, surprise) Travis Konecny dropped during his draft class. If Konecny is ready now, explain to me the logic behind nearly all 30 teams passing him up. Even Claude Giroux had to wait, which resulted in Giroux seeing some AHL time. Why is this? Was it a terrible idea? G saw his time through in junior and now is an elite talent playing for Team Canada at the World Cup. So please, oh please great evaluator of talent, make more sense of your "logic".
I've seen Travis Konecny play. I would say Pavel Zacha is much more chippy and Konecny did get pushed around by Windsor's Giants when I saw him live but Konecny did over come but again, I didn't say anything about his weight.
If Konecny makes the team, I'll be happy for him. We could use him right now. I personally wouldn't play him now. It's really not this outrages idea to develop players slowly and allow them to see minor league time...at least no more outrages then Couturier trying the right half wall over the left as if it's this impossible idea.
Life update. I've completed 2 rotations out of 7. I'm ready to start the last day of my first week out of 5 here at Hospital at UPenn. I'm doing internal med.
The first patient I'm in charge of has a diabetic foot infection and super poopty kidneys. Yay for AKI. My day begins at 0400 and ends at midnight. Walk in the doors to the hospital at 0600 to work up the patients we're rounding on. Rounds at 0900. So much work. So exhausting. So wild.

We can all thank The beloved Ghost for Twam NA not advancing. Way to blow. Big players, make big shots in big games. I guess that explains the big moment for him. Just like last year's playoffs. Eichel couldn't possibly serve t up any better than that. Flash in the pan.
