Absolutely 100%
Not only is Gibson the better goalie (IMO), he has much more experience and is much more proven.
Do realize, Gibson has 68 NHL starts over 3 years (really took over this season) and a career save % of .920. His GAA is also 2.22.
Murray has 34 games of NHL experience just from this year, playing with a Stanley Cup winning team that had one of the better d's Ive seen in a long time. I wanna see him tried and tested. - jak521
If the argument is experience and it's 68 starts vs 34...I'm not sure that's a big enough divide haha. Gibson is a long shot to even be 3rd for the 2018 Olympics, but in the next 1.5 seasons, there's a lot that could happen for either, given that they're both so young and inexperienced. More likely they're looking at 2020 World Cup/2022 Olympics though. And it's all moot because see my other post.

Trocheck and Saad should be locks if they actually make a real team. I'd dump Oshie and the overrated Carlsson too. Parise too I'd get rid of...1 point in his last 8 USA games. He will be even older too. Pavelski remains to be seen. He's better than Parise. When I have a minute I'll think about a lineup. - Mononoke
Gaudreau-Matthews-Kane (a supercharged Chicago line basically)
Galchenyuk-Johnson-Wheeler
Larkin-Eichel-Kessel
Saad-Trocheck-Pavelski
Pacioretty

I dont think this team would reach the 100% grit threshold team USA is known for. - MBFlyerfan
"If it comes to 100% skill, they win. 100% grit, we win." —T.J. Oshie
I love this quote. Like Team Canada -- with Weber, Doughty, Burns, Getzlaf, Perry, O'Reilly, Giroux, Tavares, Crosby, Marchand, Bergeron, Thornton, Toews -- is a bunch of soft pansies who will run crying from The Big Bad Red, White, and Blue.

“Let me say this,” Lombardi said on Thursday, per ESPN. “If you’re talking about Justin Abdelkader, Blake Wheeler, Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Kesler, David Backes — I’ll take those guys any day, any day. Those guys have big time heart and when I talk about caring, they’d be the nucleus of the caring..."
I recommend next time Team USA has a game, they instead go volunteer their time at an old people's home if they have such big, caring hearts. I also like how he threw Wheeler in there as some low skill, gritty guy. Guy was #7 in NHL scoring last season and #14 the last 4 seasons combined. Please don't compare him to Abdelakder and Dubinsky and Backes, Lombardi. This just makes him sound more incompetent.

They through in the towel after Canada scored those two goals back to back. Deflated their big hearts

Finland and Russia still tied at 0 after 1 period...
Torn between wanting the kids to advance or not. I'd love to see more games from them but I'd like Ghost and Coots in camp.
We all know G is there until the end. And Streit and PEB have advanced.
Good to see PEB playing well against that level of competition. - dragonoffrost
Ghost is getting better each game. Coots looks great too, though his usage is not as offensive as we'd like to see when he's a Flyer. But the quality of hockey is high and it's intense. So long as they stay healthy, this is probably a great way to get ready for the season. Lord knows this team needs a good start for once.
It's G who I want back. But that's not happening. He won't be playing or anything. Him being there does zilch.
I've always have been against Konecny making the team this coming camp and firmly believe he should see some AHL seasoning when the time comes but for those who disagree, these people may have a case. Matt Read is getting stale. Cousins and Laughton in my opinion are two very underwhelming players that Konecny could prove he's more ready then. My concern is whether or not Travis Konecny can with stand the NHL's physical game and stay healthy.
