6m AAV for a bum that only scored 37 goals last year. Losers! - PLindbergh31
It is very cute and very predictable that you'd not mention that Marchand only scored 25 and 24 goals in the previous two seasons (your whipping boy, so-called one year wonder Jake at 22 and 23). Given that his shooting % was actually pretty constant this year compared to past seasons, but he suddenly decided to shoot a whopping 70 more times, I don't think it's unsustainable to an extent.
But you also nicely ignore that he has only scored 53, 42, and 60 points over the last 3 years. Even scoring 37 goals, in this career best year, he only hit 60 points. I know assists are unholy to you, but (frank), Jake equalled that in a down year. |

So, yeah...my wife's big birthday present was to finally see a Steeler's game in-person. In the end, she ended up getting club box tix.
Possibly the most disappointing birthday present ever for her. |

Oh, that is rough.
I sell some of my Flyers games to folks that give them to family and spouses as gifts. I reasonably know there is nothing I can do about the outcome of the game, but it still makes me feel bad for those people when the Flyers lose. |

Well, she did have fun going, and I ended up not having to pay for them, so at least she got a day out with her family and friends in the city who all went to the game. Eh, it is what it is. |

i'm no a huge fan either, but i watch, and i "care"...enough to yell at the tv anyway and get aggravated. i've watched all 3 games, and i'd say he's gotten a little better each week and he really looks poised, experienced, and in control. he's also able to make plays happen when it looks like there's nothing there. what i was also happy to see is that he wasn't putting himself in situations to get injured by making these extra plays to gain yardage when he scrambles, like he did last week. this line helped him a ton yesterday and he seemed to have much less pressure than last week, so not exactly apples/apples, but i still saw simplification. can't have that guy getting hurt.
i'm not saying he's the next greatest thing...who knows what he'll be? i'm simply enjoying them play and watching a guy who looks like he's a legit, in-command qb. he'll eventually make some mistakes and not have a great game and they'll lose. and that's fine.
i just wish people would stop saying "it's only 1 game', and "it's only the browns and they suck" and "it's only 2 games" and "the bears suck" and "it's only 3 games" and the "steelers had injuries". enough. they play who they play. object is to win. end of story. they're 3-0, so stfu already. not you. |

I'm not saying "It's only 3 games," meaning that he's a flash in the pan, more that calling him a great QB likes half the city seems to be doing right now seems a bit premature. Yeah, he's not given a choice of who to play, but even if it was the Patriots, Broncos, and Patriots again, I'd say the same thing. |

I never truly fully invest myself into an Eagles season due to high likelihood of being extremely disappointed. But this year I am starting to cave after this 3-0 start. The weekly naysayers, "oh it was just x team" are certainly annoying, and should be silenced after yesterday. Wentz has been amazing from his accuracy to his poise. I love that we can actually drive a possession now, our clock management has been phenomenal imo. And our defense has just been equally as impressive as Wentz. I was very worried about Steelers offense and figured the game would be a shootout between Wentz and Big Ben but man we dominated both sides of the field for the 3rd consecutive week. What's even better is our schedule is pretty favorable this year if we can mirror our performances thus far.

Trouba is overrated - Mononoke
He's kinda sorta like Gudas... great at generating shots, average/meh in his own end.
Yost believes he has top-pair potential... I could see him reaching that plateau, but he's got a lot of poop to sort out first in his overall game.
I'd trade them Morin+ for him in a second... but not Provorov/Sanheim/

there was a bit of TL:DR in your post and the one above it (nothing against you just didnt feel like reading at the moment) but I personally dont understand the whole hype train ordeal that always has to go on with the eagles. I get that part of it is due to how the NFL works and all...but beating the steelers means very little...just kind of proves naysayers wrong. The team didnt suddenly get better or anything.
They lose Johnson now, they may have to deal with other injuries, and sooner or later they are going to give up points or have turnovers. NFL is about who is best at the end of the season, so to me it is still all about just enjoying what we are watching and being happy its not a boring year. I dont see a reason to have to shift expectations or set ourselves up for disappointment. |

I don't doubt he could end up a top pairing guy. He's 22, plays with Mark Stuart, and on his off-side. Some pretty easy fixes to make right there
But he does have a lot of work to do, and he's been in the league for several years. It's no given. He's good now, but Winnipeg will demand top pairing trade value, even if he's not that (yet). I just get confused when people talk about him as some amazing, known commodity like Lindholm or somebody. He may be more advanced, but the kid still has a lot of things up in the air, much like our own prospects. Giving up one of our top dmen+another significant value add doesn't do it for me. |

poop always goes wrong. it just does. but it's really fun right now, just seeing what they can do each week. especially since all these experts were jumping off the (frank)ing bridge when he wentz got the job - "oh they'll go 6-10 now, but what's the difference because they weren't going to win with bradford anyway".
what was also really REALLY nice to see was virtually zero flags. they were disciplined. much better than the first 2 games.
wentz and BR and the same height and size, but (frank), BR just looks like a fat pud to me.
regarding schedule, i haven't even looked at that. what i did see was the giants blow it yesterday in their final drive against washington, so that's good for us. (frank) them. |

that's all we're saying, too. same thing.
re: hype - i think that's part of a 16 game season. such little margin for error and doesn't take much to be 0-3 and then seem like the season is practically over before it starts. good starts are so important. eagles are on that train, and people get fired up. i get it. i'm not fired up. just enjoying good football.
