there was a bit of TL:DR in your post and the one above it (nothing against you just didnt feel like reading at the moment) but I personally dont understand the whole hype train ordeal that always has to go on with the eagles. I get that part of it is due to how the NFL works and all...but beating the steelers means very little...just kind of proves naysayers wrong. The team didnt suddenly get better or anything.
They lose Johnson now, they may have to deal with other injuries, and sooner or later they are going to give up points or have turnovers. NFL is about who is best at the end of the season, so to me it is still all about just enjoying what we are watching and being happy its not a boring year. I dont see a reason to have to shift expectations or set ourselves up for disappointment. - YuenglingJagr
I refuse to hop fully aboard any hype with eagles And I've been a big naysayer for eagles for years; I never was into Chip and never got on that hype train to begin with. So to see a potential franchise impacting QB, a defense that has looked this great, and a smart coach, my expectations have for sure shifted for this team. But, I still will not pencil in us being a for sure playoff team. As you said, it's about who is best at the end. The season is long and a lot can happen, especially with injuries. |

He's kinda sorta like Gudas... great at generating shots, average/meh in his own end.
Yost believes he has top-pair potential... I could see him reaching that plateau, but he's got a lot of poop to sort out first in his overall game.
I'd trade them Morin+ for him in a second... but not Provorov/Sanheim/
Ghost/Myers/etc. - Tomahawk

It is very cute and very predictable that you'd not mention that Marchand only scored 25 and 24 goals in the previous two seasons (your whipping boy, so-called one year wonder Jake at 22 and 23). Given that his shooting % was actually pretty constant this year compared to past seasons, but he suddenly decided to shoot a whopping 70 more times, I don't think it's unsustainable to an extent.
But you also nicely ignore that he has only scored 53, 42, and 60 points over the last 3 years. Even scoring 37 goals, in this career best year, he only hit 60 points. I know assists are unholy to you, but (frank), Jake equalled that in a down year. - Mononoke
So he's averaged nearly 29 goals per season the last 3 years if my Harambe math is correct. Seems like 6 million AAV is a fair deal.
Who's the last Flyer to score 37 in a season? Probably the guy traded for Umberger. |

poop always goes wrong. it just does. but it's really fun right now, just seeing what they can do each week. especially since all these experts were jumping off the (frank)ing bridge when he wentz got the job - "oh they'll go 6-10 now, but what's the difference because they weren't going to win with bradford anyway".
what was also really REALLY nice to see was virtually zero flags. they were disciplined. much better than the first 2 games.
wentz and BR and the same height and size, but (frank), BR just looks like a fat pud to me.
regarding schedule, i haven't even looked at that. what i did see was the giants blow it yesterday in their final drive against washington, so that's good for us. (frank) them. - hammarby31
It's definitely an exciting time. I mean I certainly did not see us going 3-0 at all after the Bradford trade. Scouts and analysts said all along Wentz could use a full year before getting on the field to mature and grow. And he's just looked locked in and so cool and collected. I also just love how unpredictable we've been. Last season with Chip you really just expected to go 3 and out often, which we did. loved the redskins win and was cheering for a comeback. Didn't want those Giants being 3-0 with us at all

If that was my child down there, I'd be buying the people who shot him birthday and Christmas presents for life.
Then again, I'd like to think that I'm attentive enough for my child to not be in a position to fall down there. |

well you hit the important parts. The defense has been and is very talented. Playing incredible., and wentz appeals to be the real deal. With an actual NFL qb the sky is the limit. I dont think theres any doubt that he is legit at this point. He may regress and not play as well down the stretch causing the eagles to lose games, but they have found their QB and the sky is the limit with how good he can be |

Having a QB who can calmly walk up to the line, assess the defense, and make an informed decision about the play, along with a coach who allows him to do so, is a welcome change from Chip Kelly's offensive "strategy." |

that's all we're saying, too. same thing.
re: hype - i think that's part of a 16 game season. such little margin for error and doesn't take much to be 0-3 and then seem like the season is practically over before it starts. good starts are so important. eagles are on that train, and people get fired up. i get it. i'm not fired up. just enjoying good football. - hammarby31

Agreed, and I'm just happy that our QB issue has been solved. Ever since McNabb just hasn't been the same. Not saying he's going to be McNabb or better than him, but we for sure have found a reliable quarterback for the future and someone to build around. |

I'm a bears fan, but the Eagles are my number 2. Looks like I'm going with the Eagles this year. Bears need to clean house again! Great you decided to rebuild, but why not keep some of the offensive pieces you had and draft d. Re sign forte just to make the team watchable. What a mess that is. - Hextall271
My NFL knowledge outside of the Eagles could fit in a thimble. I tried to get into them after Reid's departure, but Kelly was almost as aggravating at first and then got worse. Heh. Pederson is boring by compare. I like that. No fanfare. Just a coach. |

I like that he's just a coach.
Now if they could just do away with cheerleaders and the stupid mascot, we'd be getting somewhere. |

I love this Pederson hiring more and more each week. He's showed he's got some balls too with those few 4th down calls against the Browns and Bears and it's paid off each time so far. I also love how Pederson approaches our team and his voice in the locker room. I'm not sure if you have seen any of the post game speech videos from Pederson in locker room, but man he's really got our team gelling. Much better, and more respected, compared to Chip and his nazi-like tactics. |

It's often all in how they're taught/raised. For instance, the boy in orange here has been taught that only knuckleheads slap the glass:

Steely McBeam does not exist, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar. HE DOES NOT EXIST!
The Packers are another team that has neither, although they allow local college cheerleaders to represent them.
Edit: I just feel that football should be able to sell itself. If you need attractive women and a fluffy mascot to sell your product, then your product isn't good enough.
I feel that mascots only belong in baseball, because baseball has very little action, and mascots can serve a way to fill in some of those gaps. |
