Pouliot has already said he's comfortable playing the right side, so I'm not sure how swapping Maata for Trouba changes things drastically. - jmatchett383
I think Trouba is better than Maatta |

The whole situation seems odd to me because Trouba claims it isn't about money or WPG and that's it's 100% about usage and his desire to play on the right side. If that really is the case then there should really be no issue here, WPG should offer him 5-5.5M/year with the guarantee of playing RD which is where he should be playing as a RHS anyway. - jaydogg1974
Its not usage or money. Trouba just doesn't like winnipeg. So his only contract talks with winnipeg has been for an offer he can't refuse. |

I think Trouba is better than Maatta - j.boyd919
they are same age, length, weight, maatta had 2 points less than trouba but in 15 less games, maatta has better analytics and will probably have a better contract since trouba wants 6 mil. only diffrence is that trouba is a right handed shot and maatta a left handed shot. trouba has 3 times the amount of penalty minutes compared to määttä (consider that määttä played less games). I know I am just rambling but still. trouba also played more time on ice compared to määttä. Trouba hits alot and good though.
maatta takes more shots and has a better shotting %. only thing trouba is better at than määttä is hitting and ofc staying healthy |

He is, but they're not exactly apples to apples. Trouba is a more physical defender who plays all situations. Maata, when healthy and on his game, is more of a finesse player compared to Trouba. |

This. Basically, he told Winnipeg, "(frank) you, pay me." |

At full health, I actually think Maatta's long term ceiling is significantly higher than Trouba's imo. |

I agree. But right now, given Maata's health issues (did not look close to 100% at World Cup), Trouba is a better overall player. |

Meh...I feel like Trouba may be the better player, marginally, despite what the charts say, but for an extra couple million a year plus using/losing another piece or pieces to get him, I'm not a fan of that scenario.
I watched all the Finland games and thought Olli looked pretty good. He was one of their top pair defensmen matching up against the best players in the world. Finland didnt good but it's not on him. The forwards/whole team only had one goal in 3 games. He's only 22 years old and was a top pair D-men for his nation.
I'd keep Maatta over that potential trade.

Their analytics are similar, and Trouba plays with weaker team mates, while Maatta gets to play with guys like Letang, Malkin, Crosby, Kessel, etc. Most of their score adjusted analytics are pretty close, and the idea is surrounding Trouba with higher talent will elevate his game above Maatta's. I'm not saying they have to do it, but I like the idea, but if they don't, I'm cool with it too. |

He is 22 years old and going into his 2nd NHL season. Already ranks as a top pairing shot generator and a good puck possession D-man. He will be Justin Faulk's d partner this year. |

Loved that he was good enough to make the Olympic squad for Team USA in 2014 but somehow isn't good enough for the World Cup team in 2016. |

At the 2014 draft in Philly, my friends and I sat behind Fleury's extended family, who all had his Rebels jersey on.
That it all.
Oh, also: That RD Rebels logo definitely look like something Satanic. |
